Hi, haven't seen anything about this, and I did do a search, but I just received a free bottle of touch up paint from Mazda North America in a neat little box shaped like a steering wheel. It came with some info about service schedules and mymazda.com Anyways, I thought it was very nice and I was just about to order the touch up paint anyway, so it was a cool surprise.

Me too. Came today.

A small gesture for sure, but in, let's see, 40 years no other car company has bothered with so much as anything. Thanks Mazda:)

Yup it's been discussed before but these threads get buried quick. It's probably been at least a month when it was 1st discussed. I ended buying touch-up paint and now I got two.

Are people getting these randomly or are they the people who had the options to get free maintainance or return there cars?

I think everyone gets one; I'm not getting the free maintenance or anything, and I got it - came about a month and a half after car purchase.

I've tried using my touchup paint on a couple chips on the hood from gravel on the highway - I didn't have any luck. My car's silver, and the paint didn't cover anything - anyone actually able to cover chips with silver touchup paint?

The last time this was posted, it was posited that the touch up paint was a thank you for filling out the customer satisfaction survey. Seems about right because I was not exactly effusive concerning my buying experience, and I have received nothing. I guess that I'll find out if they won't send me anything soon, but I am willing to bet NO PAINT will be the answer for me. Doesn't much matter since I have a huge can of the stuff left over from my body shop repairing my bumper cover. I asked for it to cover the holes that I have to drill in the trunk to install the spare tire kit as well as the new trunk light that I want to put in, but that's a separate story.

Got mine today. Nice gesture, but I, too, had already bought (and already needed) touch-up paint. Would've been better if I'd received it shortly after I bought the car back in August.

Hopefully, this second bottle will go unused. Hopefully. :)

... on the letter that accompanied my bottle of touch up paint which arrived today (12/23); it says, "blah blah blah, we're even more excited to have you as a customer again (<-- emphasis mine)".

It seemed to me like the free paint was a pat on the head for my marque loyalty (and a discreet acknowledgement of the rather mediocre quality of Mazda's factory paintjobs. ;))

Is everyone out there who got the free paint already in MNAO's database as an owner of some other Mazda? Just curious...

Just got mine in the mail today.

Two weeks after I went out and bought a bottle. I picked up my 8 on Oct 31 so since I hadn't seen anything yet I went and ordered one!

Thats par for the course!

Well I have a 1/25th scale model of the 8 so I will use it on that!

No, doesn't have anything to do with the survey - I didn't do mine because my salesman stopped working for the dealership the week after I bought my car anyway...

I trashed the dealer I bought the car from in the survey (OK, not trashed, I just didn't give him "Excellent" all the way down - and the salesman emailed me and yelled at me about it!). I bought the car Oct 2 and so far I haven't gotten a little package. Oh well.

Mazda, directly, it appears- but it was kind of weird, because it was addressed to my husband. I've already had it out with Mazda NA on that one, and they send things to me. Anyway, the dealer keeps addressing things to him. Which was why it's weird that the touch-up paint came to him.

As far as comments on the dealer/salesman on the survey - so what? I've said it before and here it is again - if you want my business (or in this case a positive evaluation of your performance), then you'd better be ready to earn it throughout the entire transaction. There's a reason Mazda NA wants these back from you directly and not from the dealerships. Let 'em rant and rave all they want. Pack sand, buddy - next time you'll do a better job.

Elara, any chance that Mazda NA is getting their info on who bought what from the dealer itself instead of from their own database, thereby putting your husband's name on there instead of yours?

I got mine today, tried a couple of coats on the plastic steering wheel box, it looked the same as my car. Didn't test for as well it held to the plastic, the wife threw it away.

Hmmmm.....I ordered my touch up paint over 5 weeks ago shortly after delivery. It has been on back order the entire time and the dealership has no idea how much longer it will be. Now I know why! hehehee...hopefully I will receive my free paint with bulky packaging shortly.

What I think is going on is that the twits at the Mazda dealership put my husband's name first on the financing. He wasn't even supposed to be on it at all, since I came in with my own pre-approval from USAA at 4.25%- but they kept insisting that if I included him they could get me a better deal than USAA and the idiot finance guy put him first since he makes more $ than I do. While they did get a slightly better rate (3.9%) for me that way, I'm still a tad annoyed that they're sending everything to him just because of this.

Sounds like the same guys who put my name with an "OR" along w/ my wife's name on her car. Not such a big deal really, but since I'm military I'm only subject to Florida (home state) tax laws - an "and" would have been better. While CA doesn't have personal property tax quite like VA, it would be a PITA if they did since with the "or" they could technically hit her up each year. We're retitling/reregistering it to FL during our move to MD this spring anyway, but it's still a pain any way you look at it.

We now return to touch-up paint, already in progress. :)
