You think Ferrari might offer you a $500 debit card and free maintenance for the missing HP?

(jk)

Given that it's brand new (didn't you just pull the plastic off?) I wonder if things will change following a normal engine break-in...

The sound is very sweet, btw.

Congrats on the 360 Matt.

We all know manufacturers like to boost HP figures. But I think they've gone crazy with this latest 360.
Granted the car is brand new. Still has to be broken in. But it should be a bit higher than 320 at the wheels.....

Try breaking it in and then giving it a go. You also make a valid point in regards to fuel.

Everyone is getting really picky about the numbers nowadays. If you're more concerned about the numbers than actually learning to drive such a fast car, you really shouldn't be owning this type of vehicle. This goes for any sports car.

Oh well.... Regardless the Stradale is a nice 360. I personally never liked the 360.... But that's just my opinion....

Oh to long for an F50...... or better yet, the McLaren F1!!! :( :)

Really beautiful car, Matt!

The engines song alone is worth the cost!

If you want the 'other ponies' maybe drop Canzoomer a line.....

Oi... sorry to hear about this Matt, looks like you can really pick em! :p I'd be pretty steaming mad if I had just traded in a Modena only to get 7 more HP from what is supposed to be more like 20, isn't the Stradale heavier than your Modena was as well?
Wait, maybe I would just be happy to own a Ferrari, I'm so confused...

Possible reasons we don’t see claimed HP (besides different standards used):
- engine is relative new and still tight
- air box RAM effect is not present (may account for 5-10HP)
- fuel was US 91 octane

91 octane? THIS IS THE PROBLEM, MATT!!!

In Italy actually regular unleaded is 95 octane

Shell (Ferrari partner) sell also (on normal distributors) 98-99 octane gas called V-power

Someone mentioned in another thread that there may be a difference in how octane is measured here vs Europe. So it may not be as big a difference as it sounds?

octane here in eu are mesured with RON methodology. some american post SAE method (RON or not)
the gain of power with an hi performace engine passing fron 95 to 98 octane is 3-4% (declared on italian website).
Matt, consider that your engine runs near at 9000 rpm.
at that level high octane are important for leave the ecu of engine "work free" in the timing of fuel injection (whitout problems of "knock" )

Matt, is that an F40 and a 333sp you're playing with in the other vid. Totally awesome! You're a hell of a decent driver and a man of impeccable taste. Much respect.

in North America, posted octanes are an average of the RON and MON values (RON = Research Octane Number, MON = Motor Octane Number, or something like that - two different test methods to determine an octane value), so US Octane rating = (RON+MON)/2. The MON is always much lower, decreasing the average with RON, so in fact the US 91 is supposed to be equal to RON 97. When we hear that Japan and Europe have 97 or 98 octane, some people jump to the conclusion that their octane is much higher than ours, when it's actually the same, just measured on a different rating system.

Gordon

I just had the pleasure of watching your vid.

It was beautiful.

Some friends and I are in the process of putting together a video of Eigith miles,Quarter miles, and California speedway Speed trials as well.

How did you secure the vid camera in your car? It would be nice to have 3 digital video cameras going in My car the RSX and the Integra and to take a lap in each or show shots from the drivers view. We already have one person doing vids from the stands.

What Track was that btw, I would like to try more tracks other than california speedways inner track and i think that one was just awsome.

Beautiful track, Beautiful cars, and the roar of 400 horses behind you.

It just does not get any better.

Does the dealer know if the car produces full power on a dyno. I have read some cars, i.e. BMW M3, does not allow full power on a dyno. The ECU cuts power as soon as it detects the front wheels not spining at the same speed as the rears.
Anyway just a thought.

That should be "i.e. Mazda RX-8", since it's well known now that the RX-8 ECU does exactly the same thing!

Ahccording to Ferrari, you can dyno with the rear wheels and get full power readings.

I am going to have to wait until the factory reopen's in Jan for an answer.

Hi Matt,

congrats for the car but the sound of this video isn't even close to the real one. It seems reproducing the sound of a Ferrari needs another one :)

Yo,

Good driving bro. I watched you tangle with that F40, you were definitely quicker in the corners, then the dude would just mash his foot flat and walk you.

I feel your pain! *grin*

Good luck with the new car!

I have always been in love with Ferraris since I was a kid. My grandfather's neighbor had a Dino when I was about 6 yrs old I used to go over there all the time and just want to hear the engine and the exhaust. It blows me away the attention that the Italians always pay to creating beautiful cars that sound every bit as good as the look.

A friend of mine just took delivery of a 360 F1 that was actually built for John Travolta. This kid is 16 yrs old and has to sit on his CD case to see over the dash of his 2003 NSX.

If I could have ANY Ferrari right now it would be either a 250 GTO or the 512 TR I love the old vintage cars and I have always liked the look of the side strakes on the mid 80's early 90's cars.

Congratulations on your purchase. It is a truly amazing piece of machinery. BTW what job do you have that allows you to afford such expensive vehicles?

Yeah Matt it's pretty hard to quantify numbers on a car YOU DON'T EVEN OWN!! He doesn't own the Ferrari guys. Hey - why did you delete your posts in this thread Matt????? He did the same thing over on the Ferrari board too. Sorry ladies and gents.

Man, sad, sad. I was really curious why the car was down on power, I guess it was a big lie.
