I broke one of the screws that attaches the hood to the hinge. i over torqued. i didn't figure i would break it. 16 newtons is a pretty strong force.

anyway, any suggestions on getting the broken one out and getting a replacement?

they make kits specifically for it. basically you just drill into the middle of the screw and then back it out. or maybe you could try grinding a notch in it to use a screw driver to get it out.

If its the Teins I did the same thing that ball joint cost $8 and had to be shipped from Japan so I had to wait a month so they could put it in a bigger order to save on shipping something so small,,, Sucks man, been there...

didn't break the ball joint. just the OE screw.

it works even though it's missing one, but i don't like it.

gonna try to grind and unscrew. thanks. where can i get the kit if it doesn't work?

how bout a replacement. just a hardware store will do?

yeah, thats fine. just make sure the head is big enough. you could also get some washers if its not.

cool. hopefully this won't end up being too hard.

i mean, i've done some bonehead things in the past, but sheesh.

i guess i have been working out. lol. i don't know my own strength.

the stock screws are pretty weak and sheers at a low force.. just an FYI for anyone ever taking their hood off or installing dampers.

Go to Sears or your local Auto Parts store and get a kit like this. Under $20.00

If you have an ACE hardware they usually carry a bolt that will work for the 8. Also taps and screw extractor kits like what Easy posted.

thanks all! i think i have enough info to get this going.

i'll post my success story when I finish.

all f'ups aside, i like the dampers. cutting the weather stripping allows em to sit in there perfectly.

two broken drill bits later, the bastard is still in there. now it has an off-center hole and squiggles. the extractor piece still won't go in far enough.

purchased pb spray lubricant to aid in drilling and extracting and two more drill bits, made of magnesium or something hard this time.

I broke my ball joint installing the Teins last week. Still waiting on a response from Tein... Anyone have another source for these? I've tried all over town.
