View Full Version : Look out its a bird a plane.... No Its my Rx8 flying into a tree
Rx8RotorDread 04-07-2009, 10:12 AM I almost cried.... It was actually Sat morning my rx8 smashed into a tree trying to park it in the rain.... (the tree is close to the curb.....) So while flying head first toward my windshield I was thinking hmmm hope insurance can fix this one.......... Then SMash my head goes into the windshield...... soooo im all broke up and no rx8 sigh.... sad sad moment for me in life...... Sad Sad I say....
dozer 04-07-2009, 10:13 AM WOW! got any pics of the damage? glad to hear your ok
rotarygod 04-07-2009, 10:15 AM Um, seatbelt? You shouldn't be hitting the windshield.
Easy_E1 04-07-2009, 10:17 AM You going to have to enlighten us all as to what exactly you were dong to have this accident.
No seat belt, parking lot, and you hit a tree.
Well at least your OK and not decapitated.
J03K1LLARX8 04-07-2009, 10:22 AM i think grandmas old cough syrup had somethin to do with it :icon_no2:
Rems31 04-07-2009, 10:32 AM Well if you're parallel parking you can take your seatbelt off
CyberPitz 04-07-2009, 10:47 AM Parallel Parking between two trees?
Texak 04-07-2009, 10:47 AM Don't think so. I don't usually drive fast enough to slam into the windshield when I parallel park... what the hell happened??
Rems31 04-07-2009, 10:52 AM Don't think so. I don't usually drive fast enough to slam into the windshield when I parallel park... what the hell happened??
your foot can slip off the clutch ...
CyberPitz 04-07-2009, 10:53 AM It was a mixture between Metallica on the radio, foot slipping off the clutch and a bottle of water under the brake pedal.
alnielsen 04-07-2009, 11:41 AM Seat Belts/Air Bags, your head shouldn't have hit the windshield. This is crying for more explanation.
Socket7 04-07-2009, 11:43 AM your foot can slip off the clutch ...
Then there's a loud scary noise, the engine stalls and you move forward 2-4 inches. Not enough to send you into a tree.
lepichichi 04-07-2009, 11:52 AM pics please :(
Rems31 04-07-2009, 12:16 PM Then there's a loud scary noise, the engine stalls and you move forward 2-4 inches. Not enough to send you into a tree.
but there's that initial force that pushes the car forward. I could see someone hitting their head on the glass if they were kind of peeking forward to see if they're close enough to the curb and/or tree but is stopped by the curb/tree...That initial jerk forward isn't a gentle one...
CTrx8 04-07-2009, 12:31 PM by the time this guy logs on again and tells us what actually happened, we'll have 40 stories of what probably happened :lol2:
dshiznit1489 04-07-2009, 12:40 PM Parking in the rain and smashing into a tree, hitting your head on the windshield.
That doesn't add up.....you're leaving something out....
I think you tried to pull one of these but FAILED HARD

Rx8RotorDread 04-07-2009, 01:05 PM Ok Im here and yes I had belt on and I wasn't drunk either or I wouldn't drive my 8 guys.... And no the airbags did not delpoy and yes I will put pics up when I get back home and take some pics in morning as it may be dark tonite...
Yes my foot did slip and rev then hit curb and tree was right there. It was actually very sucky..... I was parking just like I usualy do in front of house. nothing to crazy guys. normally I woould have sped into the spot and then revesed into clean park position. But I sliped reved a bit not much then emidiate bang tree windshield....
"Where was that air bag I bought..." " Oh there in the steering wheel I bought ohh.... nice and safe they are..."
So thats what happend and I think that It may get totaled if it does I need a new 8 :( hope they can fix it..
Pics soon....
dillsrotary 04-07-2009, 01:41 PM I'm callin BS because trees don't grow in Newark lol
just kidding :)
Rx8RotorDread 04-07-2009, 01:50 PM when u see the pics since i havent move car yet ... You may understand better.. im at work so i cant get them up now.
RX8Sinner 04-07-2009, 02:00 PM I'm callin BS because trees don't grow in Newark lol
just kidding :)
haha, i'm sitting in class right now at NJIT, oh look a tree! oh wait nevermind, just a fat lady wearing a green shirt and brown pants.
Anyway on a more serious note, hope it doesnt get totaled and it gets fixed.
tubingchamp 04-07-2009, 02:11 PM Your head should not hit the windshield if you have a seatbelt on.
Unless you were going 100, broke the seatbelt and somehow lived?
Rx8RotorDread 04-07-2009, 02:21 PM well thanks Sinner hope it gets fixed as well.. And yea I had seatbelt on I always drive with it and when I post pics you will see that I was not for surely not doing near 100mph... not time nor space to do all that.. but.... NJIT thats close ehehheheh...
Tigerfootball 04-07-2009, 05:22 PM It was a mixture between Metallica on the radio, foot slipping off the clutch and a bottle of water under the brake pedal.
Well, the new Metallica on the radio makes me want to smash my head through a windshield....maybe he feels the same way?
BlueEyes 04-07-2009, 06:20 PM I have to see this pictures. Totalling a car because your foot slipped off the clutch would be pretty incredible.
8 Maniac 04-07-2009, 07:44 PM I think I understand. He normally parks at the edge of a cliff with a tree at the bottom. He was right at the edge when his foot slipped off the clutch, moving it just enough to fall/fly into a tree and potentially get totaled.
Jedi54 04-07-2009, 08:20 PM pics?
Texak 04-07-2009, 08:33 PM i see an automatic in your future :biggthump
DOMINION 04-07-2009, 08:49 PM ^

hahahaha thats probably it
Highway8 04-07-2009, 09:04 PM If I understand correctly, he hit a curb first which might have caused him to be thrown up but not lock the seat belts, or activate the air bags. When he hit the tree there would have been a lot of slack in the seat belt and he would have easily been thrown forward. I too am having a hard time imagining this happening but you never know.

I think we need Alfy in this thread :lol2:
dmc27 04-08-2009, 12:48 PM glad you're ok
that said . . . thanks for the rofls . . . the wild stories and all have given me a good laugh.
RawrX8 04-08-2009, 02:15 PM Maybe he was trying to duplicate a scene from F&F and do a wheelie on the move? Of course Vin never wears his seat belt either so why should I?
Ross_Dawg 04-08-2009, 03:14 PM ... But I sliped reved a bit not much then emidiate bang tree windshield....
wait wait wait... back up... what the fuck did you just say?

1. Lay off the booze
2. Lay off the drugs or
3. Turn the flash on your camera so its not all blurry :lol2:
DarkLord7854 08-19-2009, 10:13 AM That's a surprising amount of damage for just "accidentally letting the clutch out" especially since you were in 1st..
So what really happened? Because if insurance didn't cover it, sounds more like you were parking lot drifting.. :p:
Anijo 08-19-2009, 10:27 AM No way that damage happened at <20mph...
cidvicious831 08-19-2009, 12:33 PM No way that damage happened at <20mph...

White_Shadows 08-19-2009, 07:19 PM I wouldn't even try...Cars worth what 10g these days....3grand for frame and suspension work...another large for fixing the wrinkling at the C pillar....what another 3 grand for a decent repaint on the entire car...Buy a new one.
Just the front and I would give you clutch slip,(granted to this day I have sat in my car trying to figure that out, but whatever), but dude clutch slip is only in one direction, not into tree plug into reverse try the next tree, back into first gear to try and get revenge on the first tree with the side of the car...... You aren't fooling any of us.
User24 08-19-2009, 10:11 PM Salvage rx8 bought on the cheap, or must have been a gigantic tree.
moonkid 08-19-2009, 11:05 PM im calling really wrong parking lot drifting!!
Illustric 08-20-2009, 02:26 AM Actually a hitting a tree at about <20mph or around there can do a shit load of damage. I saw a guy crash his car into the back of another car at 5-10mph and his bumper completely was ruined, cracked down the middle in two pieces. It wasn't a roll, he floored it thinking the traffic was moving.

Except a tree is generally a single cylindrical object and is usually narrower than the car, and even though it's fairly strong, wouldn't take out the entire bumper nor hit the back of the car as well.

The dents near the gas tank were not done during the crash into the tree...... The were done as the car was sitting on side of road after crash.. Some Azz Backed into it and bolted away yay..... So That was not part of this accident.. The part that suxs is I have now fixed the damage the tree has cuase but them dents near the tank omg.. I dont know how much it will cost.. Sigh.. Seems in life I can not win... so hey at least I can go Fast......
The Tree kinda resembles the tree in pic on previous post... Sure you don't live near me house..????
And the Tree is Huge for real its as big as the whole front of an RX8 if a pic of the nice lil tree is need I can get one.....
Hope this helps
DarkLord7854 08-20-2009, 10:07 AM Right. *gets in the lifeboat*

According to the laws of physics, that would make no difference. Being thrown a thousand miles per hour towards a bullet suspended in mid air is the exact same effect on you as being shot.

Yeah, except for being flattened into a pancake. :cwm27:

MyZoomZoomRX8 08-20-2009, 07:06 PM Aight now, the trees have been known to fight back from time to time...you can only slide into them once before they fight back....plus look at the title of the thread "my rx8 "FLYING" into a tree...yea im having a hard time believing this one but hopefully you can get it fixed just in time for the parking lot poles to have affect on them. lol
