As I was driving today, I ran across two 1st Gen RX-7s that look pretty beat up, but nevertheless Rotary powered. The two were directly in front of me, when I heard this loud pop from their exhaust. They kept reving their engines, so I thought to myself these two old cars want to try and race mine? But instead I see them raise a thumbsup. When we reached the next light, both of the cars pulls over to the next lanes, and acknowledged my 8. That was way cool.. Rotary power! No other car has this type of comradery.

I once owned two first gen RX-7's. Although I do not have an RX-8 yet, I do think that the 8 is everthing that I wished that my 7's were. The 7's had a lot to offer, and I loved them. I look forward to getting an 8 (in Spring of 2005 when my other two cars are paid off!).
Owning a rotary is special. You just don't understand it unless you have owned one.

I got the same thing today on the way back to work from lunch. A 1st gen passed by me on the left and beeped the horn. I look over and the guy waves and gives a thumbs up.....Pretty cool, kind of like the harley riders that wave to other harley's as they pass.......:D

That's pretty cool. I guess we're all enthusiasts deep down and not afraid to admit it! Besides, there are a hell of a lot fewer rotary powered vehicles than Jeeps. I saw a REPU last month and that was wayyyyy cool.

A-men to that!
I had always had a latent love for the rotaries, every since my brother picked up a POS 86 FC, almost a decade ago. The thing was abused, but that's when it began. It embedded a seed in me.
Once I saw Initial D four years ago, that seed took root. Ever since then, I had lusted for a rotary, but never bought one due to my lack of knowledge in them.
Now that my GF and I have an 8, it's completely different. Although I always had a liking for the rotary, I now have a intimate bond with it.

I had a 2nd Gen RX-7 that I never wanted to get rid of but had to at the time because I couldn't afford to do what I needed to do to it. I missed that car so when misfortune struck with my last car it almost seemed like it was meant for me to be behind the wheel of another rotary powered vehicle. So now I sit at the helm of a new RX-8. The cars blessed with the rotary are a special bunch!
