View Full Version : X-Men Body Kit Info
Turbo111 08-18-2003, 12:33 AM I was hoping that someone could help me. In the movie x2, there is a blue Rx-8 featured. It has an awsome spoiler, that is not an option with the car. Its aftermarket. Does anyone know who this is made by and where I could get it? Its a really sweet spoiler. Thanks a ton.
jbart1981 08-18-2003, 12:45 AM currently this is not availalbe and was a custom for the movie -- i believe there are several old threads about this that were active at the initial release of the movie try searching as i am sure there is more info than I can remember-

Jadyn992 09-02-2003, 09:58 PM anyone know of anywhere where i can get my hands on the spoiler like the one in the x-men movie, for some reason I just love the way it looks. Even any info on even a place that would custom make one like it??? any info would be great?? thanks
mikeb 09-03-2003, 12:41 AM I want one too
Has anyone seen or does anyone know of a place (website)
of where I can buy a spoiler that looks like the one featured in the X-Men 2 movie, or do I just have to wait?
mikeb 09-27-2003, 06:42 PM wait for now
but I think it is coming
BlueOakleyz 09-27-2003, 10:38 PM Just a question
if I were to get this spoiler or any other aftermarket spoiler.... would they be a permanent thing? as in, the car would look like it had two fat holes in it if there was no spoiler?
mikeb 09-27-2003, 11:22 PM if you have the stock spoiler and remove it then yes their will be holes, if you get a aftermarket one and remove it later same thing. But you can always have the holes fixed by a body shop if you decide you dont want the spoiler

BlueOakleyz 09-30-2003, 01:16 AM I think the lip spoiler is ugly, the Mazda spoiler detracts from the original contours of the car and I'm not sure of the Euro spoiler.
But I love X-Men, am going to get a Winning Blue RX-8 with a plate that says XMEN RX8 or something like that.
But what about the spoiler? If one were to ever come out in the US....
what would you think of it?
Too over the top? or is it serious enough looking to look like a mean car yet elegant?
If you were just a casual viewer of an RX-8 on the road what would you think with this spoiler on it?
AvitalBlue8 09-30-2003, 01:38 AM I was actually planning on getting the Xmen spoiler till i saw the Mazda spoiler w/ the appearance package. But i think it would look good, if you get it i would like to see some pics!
starbucks 09-30-2003, 01:45 AM NOticed you have the blue, which is what I've settled on. Do you have window tinting and if so, how does it look on the blue?
mikeb 09-30-2003, 01:42 PM to see blue with tint take a look under mutlimedia/photogallery under calling all rx8's
mikeb 10-01-2003, 01:56 AM where can you buy xmen spoiler
aziza K 10-01-2003, 03:44 PM hey i love the x men spoiler as well.... That's what I thought I was ordering when I ordered the spoiler for my car. Reasoning be is I didn't see a picture of the spoiler before i bought it.
I also love all the other x men only accessories... wish we could get them
RX8Lover 10-01-2003, 03:52 PM I guess it's just me, but the Xmen spoiler looks like it is upside down. I think it is rather ugly.
aziza K 10-01-2003, 03:54 PM in the movie it looks so cute! I would have nevr know about the rx 8 much les the rx 7 if i hadnt seen that movie.
i hate the xmen spoiler.. so rice :\
aziza K 10-01-2003, 05:43 PM dang well arent you a positive person.
8_wannabe 10-01-2003, 06:22 PM Very ghetto, unless you're like aziza who is going to get it with the x-men rocket launcher. Then way cool and not rice at all. ;)

aziza K 10-01-2003, 07:19 PM MOJO please tell me where can i get all the x men accessories from. do you know????? obviously you know where toi get the spoiler but how about the grill thingies and the wheels????/
mikeb 10-01-2003, 07:42 PM I think I'd have to see the spoiler in person
I dont think its avaiable in US yet
WTF no turbo 10-12-2003, 07:50 PM Was not sure if i was able to link it just search rx-8 on ebay.Only 209.99 us seems like a good deal.
Goldenhue22 10-12-2003, 09:16 PM I saw a 350Z with an X-Men like spoiler on it today. It looked really effing cool! I don't know how it got it but I would love to find out. I have the regular spoiler on it now but would upgrade to the x-men one in a heartbeat if it could be had. DOes anyone know if there would be an issue with removing the regular spoiler for the x-men one?
jimbo_gixxer 10-13-2003, 01:00 AM have you seen the X rims for sale too?

Wolverine 10-13-2003, 12:05 PM Nice find, guys! I'm placing my order! :p
I am thinking about getting one. But I am not sure. I love the stock spoiler. Is the X-men spoiler too much? (ricey?) Or too cool? What do all of you think?
I don't think it looks ricey i thnk it looks rude. I don't see the point of that spoiler it's stupid IMO
Yeah I am not real sure about it. I like the stock spoiler but I kind of want something different from everyone else. But I also don't want anything too wild and I don't like the Mazda Speed spoiler. I kind of like the R Magic spoiler but I have not seen very many pictures of it and I can't find out anywhere if it comes painted in any color.

RX-8 Pimpin' 10-14-2003, 03:44 AM Does anyone know if this spoiler will go over the factory spoiler without drilling new holes?
x-mobile 10-14-2003, 04:07 AM I like the x-men spoiler, and was thinking of getting one, but it may be too much. Yes it will make your car look too much like a rice rocket car..but if that's the look you are going for...then go ahead. The stock spoiler is cool, but I want something different too, since I am getting it put on at an after market price. I am just waiting it out for a bit until they get more kits for the rx-8. But I really want the X-men rims!!

You could have the luck I did and get a spoiler as a result of getting a new engine at 168 miles. Free spoiler and install. Such a deal (not). Actually, I hope you don't have the luck I did. It sucked.
Anyone know where a website is that you can look at the rims on a virtual rx8? I'm lazy and don't want to do the work in Photoshop.

Read this thread and you will learn all the sorried details.
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11862
The short version is it had a rear rotor fault and the factory wanted the complete engine (at 168 miles). BTW, I'm not the only one that this has happened to. There is another post http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12559 where the guy has 3500 miles and Mazda is his engine for a different(?) problem.
x-mobile 10-14-2003, 11:30 AM Sad to hear about your engine (read the thread), but I am glad it worked out and you got some perks out of it. At least you have your baby back! :)
U. N. O. 10-14-2003, 11:44 AM i personally really don't like that x-men poiler.. i would do the mazda speed one better but ofcourse its like 1k more.. not worth it..
Conundrum 10-14-2003, 01:49 PM Wow, X-men spoiler cost less than factory spoiler.
good find.
mikeb 10-14-2003, 03:35 PM I would have to see it in person
to make a decision
mikeb 10-14-2003, 03:40 PM I saw the ms spoiler in person and its sweet but expensive
BaronVonBigmeat 10-14-2003, 07:28 PM Ugggh....looks like cheap tupperware. I think I'll wait for a kit that actually improves the car's appearance rather than just change it for the sake of being different.
Now the exhaust finishers, on the other hand, look quite nice. I like them a lot better than the factory ones.
mikeb 10-15-2003, 01:05 AM I want the metal finishers on the front of xmen car
U. N. O. 10-15-2003, 02:45 PM now lets go back to the principles.. an spoiler is not ment to make a car "look cool". thats a very, very bad concept. u see all those civics and other front wheel drive cars with the huge wings and what not,, they are useless for them and add extra unnecessary weight.. the hole purpose of the spoiler is to put downforce presure from the passing air to have more and better grip to the REAR wheels for REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS!! for in essence a wing in a front wheel car is actually liftting the car thus making then lose grip in the front.
Now back to the 8 since it is a rear wheel drive, we can efficiently use this technique to help us in the road. The spoiler form the "X-MEN" car will not put down force in the car. i will HIGHLY doubht that it was engeneered to efficiently put down force.. SO i would give my advised saying save your money and get one that WILL do what is suppost to do .. there are many out there that will NOW just find the one of your like
U. N. O. 10-15-2003, 02:48 PM Originally posted by mikeb

naa just get the mazda speed front bumper.. looks better and more space for the intercooler:D
mikeb 10-15-2003, 02:48 PM I want a spoiler that adds style to my car
dont you have to be doing like 110 mph for a spoiler to help with downforce

some like that for noticeable force but i am sure that even at 70mph in the higway ther is a lot of wind against you to put down force ..

have you ever noticed the Porsche 911 Carrera? the wing extends above speeds of 50MPG to provide downforce. and retracts as you go below 50-60mpg. i don't think you need to be going 3 digit speeds in order to benefit from an engineered spoiler.
in any case has anyone replaced a factory spoiler with the x-men spoiler? is this a straight swap?
mikeb 10-16-2003, 03:25 PM good point
I sure if you remove stock spoiler holes will have to be filled and redrilled for xmen spoiler
its never a fun project
Wolverine 10-16-2003, 11:36 PM FYI, according to an e-mail I recieved from thespoilerfactory.com, they say that the X-Men spoiler that they have is a "fiberglass mold".
mikeb 10-17-2003, 01:48 AM fiberglass
thats not good, it will crack under pressure
RX-8 2004 10-17-2003, 08:46 AM Originally posted by mikeb

And how much pressure is that going to take? you going to sit on it or ride it like a surf board ? What is the factory spoiler made out of does anyone know?
Damn better get rid of my boat and corvette ....fiberglass might crack
Gel coat in fiberglass tends to get spider web cracks over time heat, cold and stress. But I dont think the fiberglass would crack on a spoiler from being used as intended.
mikeb 10-17-2003, 12:24 PM I think the stock spoiler is ABS plastic
My civic had fiberglass frontbumper, side skirts, back bumper, mirrors, fenders, hood and I had countless cracks and problems
Goldenhue22 10-18-2003, 06:16 PM If you have the factory spoiler on and then remove it for the XMEN (or different) spoiler. Will the old one come off clean so it can be re-sold? Or will it be damaged in the removal process?

Reckless, check out www.tirerack.com. You can try out new rims there and it shows them on the car. You can even pick out the color of the car. Pretty cool site actually.
panda 10-19-2003, 02:53 PM i like the x men spoiler.....i am going to order mine.....i think it is fun and ppl may think its ricey but it is your car after all...not theirs..

wakeech 10-21-2003, 12:27 PM *tries hard not to explode*
...please, for the love of GOD, are we not car enthusiasts??? please, let's get the terminology correct:
Spoiler: an aerodynamic device which is designed to reduce drag and lift (marginally), by damming air, creating behind it a streamlining turbulent flow.
Wing: an aerodynamic device which is designed to give the car more grip (weight) without increasing the mass of the car. this is done by creaing a pressure difference over the area of the wing (equals force) pushing the car into the ground.
the R-Magic wing looks like it might actually do this a little bit, as does the MS wing.
Mazda Speed, R-Magic, X-Men... all WINGS.
Euro spoiler and the NA Spoiler are yes, spoilers.
sorry, i needed to vent.
