i would like to competitively race my rx8, of course this will take lots and lots of time and practice yes yes.
i'm here needing advice on how to get to this point...basically, what's the first thing i do?
i'm thinking thinking http://www.nasatxracing.com/ attending the hpde they are having. should i go the nasa route, or the scca route? or both?
i'm confused to as how one gets to participate in racing events.
1. hpde's 2. competitions license 3. compete???
yes yes i've read the stuff on their websites, i was just wondering, what history/background do i need.
First off, you should do as many HPDE's as you can and take the classroom stuff to heart. Learn as much as you can about car control. NASA and SCCA are great organizations to work your way up the ladder. Just remember HPDE's and wheel to wheel racing are like apples and oranges. Go do some HPDE's and talk with the guys there doing the club racing enduros and spec class racers, they should be able to give you the ins and outs of that particular series.

I'd recommend maybe looking into the MAZDASPEED driving school. I believe they'll teach you competition and you practice in an RX-8
Just my $.02
