Yep we in Puerto Rico get movie releases on thursdays so I went and saw it with my gf after work.

I liked it. I liked it a lot actually. The movie has better "drama" or better script than the past ones. The only thing is that I think that there were not enough cars in the movie. Meaning not as much "scene" as in the other ones. Most of the cars in the movie are american muscle. Only a handful of imports. Other than that the movie is cool. Had a pretty good time seeing it and the racers are very entertaining.

There was like only 1 race in the whole movie.

Only one competition race, the others were kind of chase scenes

I actually liked it a lot i felt like it was the connection between tokyo drift and the second fast and furious....cause han was in this one as one of the drivers if you didnt notice. There wasn't many imports and that many races but all and all a really good movie. Better than expected

Saw it last night at Midnight. SO legit, I loved it.
No Mazda's :( but still, amazing movie.
The only imports were a BMW M5, Infiniti G35, Subaru WRX STI, Nissan Skyline and maybe a few more. Gosh that Skyline was sick.
And Paul Walker finally learned how to act!!....almost :)

Its supposed to be a racing movie.

There was 1 race and the rest were chases.....It was ok but it was a real let down.
I like all the other ones except 2 fast 2 furious, but this one wasn't there for me.

You liked the 3rd one... You realize that main character was a worse actor than keanu reeves. His accent made me turn it off...

You should be happy. FnF really killed the S2000's resale values where it was seen in Barbie Pink. :lol2:

So I just came back from watching Fast and the Furious 4 and I thought the story line was much better than the previous ones, but the draw back was the lack of nice cars... They seem to be more focused in the story rather than the cars in this movie... I guess it was because they noticed people complaining about how bad the story lines were in the previous FF series. Other than that I would give this movie a B-.

And I still kinda like Tokyo dift better though even though the story sucked ass.

I just got back from watching it. I enjoyed it and like it better than the past ones. There's more muscle cars in this one. Hope this isn't a spoiler...but the beginning part where they were stealing the 18-wheel gas truck thing (F&F Preview), is takes place before the Tokyo Drift movie like Rollinwithrotary mentioned above.

I was shocked that I actually enjoyed the movie as much as I did. I thought the first one wasn't very good, the second one was goddamn terrible and the third one was enjoyable except for the casual conversation while tandem drifting down a mountain... :uhh: This movie I thought had the best plot out of all of them, the best acting, and tied 1 and 3 together nicely. I walked out of the theater comfortable with spending $10 to see it.

I do wish there were more import cars as the whole point of the franchise was focusing on the import tuner scene... but I enjoy American muscle also, so I wasn't terribly disappointed. The R34 was dead sexy, but god I hate the hatchback STi, it looks so freaking terrible.

Can someone explain to me how a movie can be both a sequel and a prequel?

SpeedyTurtle
04-04-2009, 02:30 PM
Fast and Furious was the sequel to The Fast and the Furious, but it was a prequel to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. So if you wanted to watch all of the movies in chronological order it would go The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast and Furious, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Hopefully this isn't a spoiler but in the new movie, who was the man under the car in the garage that Vin Diesel went into to find out the name of the guy who was running nitro meth? It sounded like he was someone in Vin's old gang but Jesse and Vince presumably died, and it didn't look like Lian.

RyanX-8
04-05-2009, 01:01 AM
sequel + prequel = FAIL

Reasons I am disappointed:

There were hardly any cars
Story line was stupid... seriously wtf
Fast & Furious aka "Racing".... what racing?
And
90% of what happened was just fake... The stunts, the action.... it all seemed fake... not graphic wise. Reality wise, the whole time i was like "You cant do that, this shits impossible!!!"

I am pretty disappointed because I liked the 1st one and Tokyo drift... they really messed up the series now...

Just came back from seeing it, and have a mixed reaction on it.

Worst part of the movie: opening scene. need not explain

The rest of it was either good, or ok. nothing about it was great. The story line was pretty good. It made sence and you could fallow it. The cars were pretty good. No retardidly done up cars or anything. I just wish there were more races. Chases are good too, but one race? com'on.

And oh wow, no police escort to take vin to jail? really?? and wow what a surprise, leave it open for a 5th.

SlowLude

no it wasnt...not even close to being the same.....

Oh let's have a race to see who gets the job... where have I heard that before? And let's catch a drug dealer by going undercover? Other than the revenge thing, the plot was pretty much the same. Ok, this time they were catching mexicans rather than italians (or wherever that guy was from) Oh yeah... let's get Tyrese err... Dom to help out and we'll clear his name afterwards... oh wait.. they were once enemies and now friends.. not close to being the same my ass.

Yea when i go to a F&F movie i expect to see ALOT of cool imports, a COUPLE of cool domestics and even exotics, some bang ass bitches and some good racing scenes at least...if there is good acting and a descent story line that is just an unexpected plus.

Im a bit embarrased to say that even though the 1st movie was the best "movie", i actually enjoyed Tokyo Drift better simply because of the cars, races and the scenery.

ricers were around b4 the first movie...why do you think they made it? maybe try think next time b4 you post unnecessary stuff in a thread about a movie....

yes rice was around and it was a very underground lifestyle. After the movie came out bang all of the sudden media was all over it like a fly on shit, which brought more cops.

you cant honestly tell me that you didn't see a spike in that lifestyle after the movie came out, I mean really I already made my point about Tokyo drift...

All these movies have done time after time is exposed an underground society that the average Joe did not know about.

With that said without this franchise I doubt the RX-8 would have been created. The whole sport car industry as we know it today would be very different. so I guess I have a Love/Hate relationship with the creators.

jones75254
04-05-2009, 11:59 AM
^^Yea the impact F&F had on the tuner scene was similar to that of the movie Top Gun having an impact on the Navy/Air Force (prospective fighter pilots). I swear, after that movie came out EVERYONE wanted to be "Maverick", LOL. Crazy how a single, fictional movie can impact the real world so much.

If you want a certain industry or product base to boom, all that needs to be done is make a crazy, sensationalized movie with big names, hot chicks and sick action and you got yourself a cash cow.

A spot-on review by Stephanie Zacharek,

April 3, 2009 | Even in the context of a Hollywood that repackages the same movies over and over again but with different names and (slightly) varied characters and stories, Justin Lin's sequel to a sequel to a sequel "Fast & Furious" seems especially cheap and lowdown. It's like an imitation Hot Wheels that comes in the same kind of blister pack as the original and features lettering in approximately the same typeface, only it's called Fast Wheels, and it's the thing your clueless-if-well-meaning parents come home with when what you want with all your heart is the real thing.

DO NOT WAIST YOUR $$$$$ WATCHING THIS MOVIE.....
it is in fact a good action movie, but it complety lost the concept of what the 1st one and 3rd one were all about..... if you into muscle cars then this is defenetly the movie for you!!!
if you drive a 8 dont waist your$$ wait untill it comes out on tv, if you drive a el camino or a 5000 lbs nova then just sit down and enjoy the ride!

just my 0.2 cents :)

Maybe its just me but the movie was very similar to 2F2F : paul goes undercover yet again to drive cars to transport drugs for some stupid drug cartel. Although I noticed there was not enough action as anticipated, more boring drama than anything. Paul Walker just seemed like the annoying kid tagging along with Vin Diesel, who didn't really do much except hit ppl.

My rating: despite having low expectations for it, it had no bang for the buck- solid 4 out of 10.

1st one for the original, even with some ricey cars.

2nd is the most rice out movie in this series. Watch in theater, feel like give my money back.

3rd has the most nicest rides.
All 3 above, story does not make any sense.

4th should not be in this series. Even story is related and make some senses,

It was okay I guess. I was dissappointed in they used a V8 sound clip for the GN. They put the GN badges on the WRONG side of the car. Vin was shifting through 10000 gears on a 200 4R tranny. Ebraking a foot brake.

Hah! I knew this movie would suck! Even compared to the other movies in the series, I had a feeling this would be one of the worst - aside from one shot, the automotive scenes in the trailer looked boring, and those are supposed to be the good ones! You could tell it was packed with a BS crime-drama storyline that largely neglected the automotive aspect of the movie.

These writers need to realize that people see these movies for the cars, not the awful story that strings the movie along between chase/race scenes. They went heavy on the story for 2F2F and it sucked, they did it again with 4F4F and it sucks again. It's an easy formula for success: lots of cars and just enough story to make the car scenes plausible.

I'd say opening weekend earnings have little to do with how good the movie is - those are the people who were going to see it regardless of what the critics were saying. Seeing how it holds up will be a much better gauge of its success. From what I've been hearing about this movie, I suspect its earnings are going to drop off sharply this week.

Man, people are technical, just enjoy a car flick. I thought I heard the turbos on the GN. I mean seriously what car flick is 100% accurate. What would the dukes of hazard be if the car fell apart upon landing every jump?

tokyo drift was the worst..vin and paul make the movies worth watching

Couldn't agree with you more... Oh and on a side note did anyone else know that the Blue Skyline in the movie is actually paul walkers car?? I just found that out the other day..

Tokyo Drift was just an annoying bunch of riced out cars running in circles

I only watch them for the cars and in that sense Tokyo Drift was the best for me. And I've always been more into the technology than the muscle, which is why of course I have a rotary. ;)

"If you had a V-8 (looking at the RX-8) that wouldn't be a problem." -wrong! ;)

The 4th one was a lot better than I expected, it had some intense action scenes and an actual, bonafide plot! The first one is classic of course, I mean Point Break + ricers = fun.

The movie was ehhh...wasn't terrible. I've seen far worse...2fast 2furious was FARRR worse than this. To those looking for a little bit of a plot - they got it - those muscle car fanatics got to feel themselves on this movie because it was basically stroking their ego throughout the movie - and it didn't really pump up the ricers because of that infamous line by the trashy asshat w/the hoe's "MUSCLE ALWAYS BEATS IMPORTS, EVERYTIME!" - i think it was legit - definitely not in my top 10 favorite movies though.

btw - not sure if this was mentioned(because i don't plan on reading through all 4 pages) - but there was a white RX8 in the movie - it wasn't driving tho - when paul walker was looking for a car to take to the races they brought up a database of cars to pick from - there's a white rx8 w/a cf hood and rmagic(i think) body kit. It was only for a split second but i caught it :D: and yeah, as someone already mentioned there was a purple FC parked behind an NSX during that one chicks' funeral.

hmmm if you look towards the end of the movie when they are in the tunnel, there is an RX-8 with what looks like a mazdaspeed kit or something, but its on for all of 6 seconds.

I must say the newest one. They were smart, listened to everyone, and took the darn vinyl off the skyline.
The first one was my favorite because the story line was most visable, and it seems like the newest followed that.
The second one was TERRIBLE. BUT with the bonus feature where they showed the stealth dressed like a vr4 and introduced the skyline. I was impressed with that little short skit, but the actual movie was way way way way too much animation not enough actual possible driving.
The third was good only to see the cars and see the mustang with a real engine ;), but storyline was whatever. Without the 4th you didn't even know it was attached at all.
The 4th is now my favorite as it attached all of them and was very clean and not just a bunch of flashy colored lights. Cars actually looked like they were driven.

on that...as many cheesy lines as their were in the first one, it still was the best out of the series, with tokyo drift coming in second, cause of the cars and dori kin!

I have to agree. Just ignore the lack of plot, and enjoy the eye candy.

i liked it, its a car movie, not a street racing movie, street racing is retarded anyways in f&f, 4 cars line up in a row wtf, the domestics were beautiful, the skyline was pretty sick, and paul walker cant act :lol2:, lots of action, nice cars, not much rice, nothing to complain about

First one for originality. Second, I hated. It brought ricers to the forefront, now I can't help but always notice them. Third was pure seckz(eye candy). Fourth was good except for all of the cgi...that ruined it for me.

He was a bit 1 dimensional but thats vin diesel for you.

The 4th was the best but i liked it for reasons other than the cars in it. there was a lot of action and i actually cared about what happened. In tokyo drift i just wanted to see nathalie kelley as much as possible.

It was def worth watching. Not a big sensationalized tuner/racer movie like the others, which is why some didnt like it. It was a descent movie, it def didnt suck. I hated the very end, that was a bit stupid.
