View Full Version : 2004 Mazdaspeed RX8
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:28 PM Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has information on the limited production 2004 Mazdaspeed RX8. I've read that 300 of these were produced in late 2003 and released in the USA.
I was looking at an RX8 that has Mazdaspeed logos on it. It's silver with a black hood with hoodpins holding it in. The seller claims that this is a rare 2004 Mazdaspeed RX8.
I've been doing some research but I really can't find much information about this car. If anyone could provide me with details I could use to verify the authenticity of the car, it would be greatly appreciated.
I'll post some pics soon.
Transam kid 01 04-01-2009, 04:30 PM it's a lie. There is no MS RX8, only MS upgrades such as the body kit, springs/dampers, intake, exhaust, flywheel, etc. Check MazdaUSA.com for more details on what's in that kit.
Spinning Sushi 04-01-2009, 04:30 PM There was none.
On the other hand, there's the Mz tuned 8 (similar to a Mazdaspeed 8) in Japan.

TwiztedRX 04-01-2009, 04:35 PM so aftermarket CF hood.. Dark chrome wheels... stock Aero Kit with MS sides, Strakes and a Polished Fuel Cap.. THATS MS limited Fo sho! lol
Spinning Sushi 04-01-2009, 04:36 PM Dude, that 8's a fake. There were never any MazdaSpeed Edition 8's ever made.
Transam kid 01 04-01-2009, 04:36 PM the only things MS about that car are the MS sideskirts which that person decided to ruin by writing on them. I would stay away, he will probably charge too much and it seems like it was someone's toy; who knows what that person has done to it (or not done to it)
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:39 PM After initial launch in 2003, Mazda released a limited run of RX-8 dubbed "Mazdaspeed Version" boasting various Mazdaspeed accessories as well as a slightly tuned ECU. This special edition was available in Strato Blue Mica or Sunlight Silver. Only 300 were produced. In 2004, Mazda followed up with a "Mazdaspeed Version II," this time available only in Strato Blue and with slightly up-rated equipment. Only 300 were produced as before.
Spinning Sushi 04-01-2009, 04:40 PM Is this some kind of April Fools joke?
Where's your source?
renesisgenesis 04-01-2009, 04:41 PM haha wow. hey i have an idea! "let's advertise a car that doesn't exist!!" Maybe if it didn't look absolutely awefull it might be almost somewhat believable....
oh wait no it wouldn't cuz obviously the MS 8 is about as real as the tooth fairy.
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:42 PM Oh, I'm just quoting that off of wikipedia. lol I'm not saying it's true. That's why I'm asking.
Spinning Sushi 04-01-2009, 04:42 PM oh wait no it wouldn't cuz obviously the MS 8 is about as real as the tooth fairy.
What?! The toothfairy isn't real?!

Sorry man, that is a complete and utter load of poo.
Mazda did release concept cars that were popularly dubbed MazdaSpeed Version 1 and 2. But never made any cars. Some of the stuff on those cars was made available from dealers as (expensive) add-ons that could be bought and applied.
And, either way, that car you posted pictures of is most definitely not either of those "Versions". It's someone's aftermarket stuff, and pretty crappy stuff at that, slapped onto a car.
EDIT: Aw crap, it is April Fools Day isn't it.
Transam kid 01 04-01-2009, 04:44 PM it is wikipedia...so don't always believe it.
Either way, that seller is a liar.
TwiztedRX 04-01-2009, 04:44 PM ok well how is this... ever IF AND I STRESS IF.. cough never was... an Mazda Speed RX-8 THAT car pictured wouldnt be one!
Transam kid 01 04-01-2009, 04:44 PM What?! The toothfairy isn't real?!
no no, I am. Don't worry.
shazy 04-01-2009, 04:45 PM WTF, Wikipedia?
Spinning Sushi 04-01-2009, 04:45 PM The only 8 that came close to a MazdaSpeed is the M'z Tuned RX-8 that was only available in Japan.
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:45 PM If I believed it I would have just bought the car. lol
Trying to see if anyone had any info.
Thanks...lol
alz0rz 04-01-2009, 04:45 PM Wikipedia is always right.
TwiztedRX 04-01-2009, 04:46 PM have to agree with sigma

Only in JAPAN.
Ross_Dawg 04-01-2009, 04:49 PM link to sale? I would like to fuck with the seller
SilverHokie 04-01-2009, 04:51 PM Sigh...the internet is truly worthless on April 1st.
Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 04-01-2009, 04:52 PM there was no mazdaspeed rx8's in the USA. Theres mazdaspeed rx8's in japan, version 1 and 2 but those are jus equipped with mazdaspeed accessories and pcm upgrades. you could get mazdaspeeed equipped rx8's in usa from dealerships but all they have is all the accessories equipped and way overpriced. the rx8 you pictured doesnt even have the mazdaspeed body kit on it except for the sideskirts, CF hood is aftermarket among other things. you got to trust me on this, look at my username! even my 8 is only mazdaspeed equipped with my mazdaspeed emblem :P
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:53 PM http://www.elitemotorsoftampa.com/view/102225
I called the dealer to ask what that was about, and he hung up on me. lol
Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 04-01-2009, 04:54 PM the link says its only the rx8 coupe, not the "mazdaspeed" rx8 :)
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:56 PM I know, I talked to a salesman personally...that's just a link to the sale.
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 04:57 PM If I was that illiterate I would have no business owning a car. lol
Ross_Dawg 04-01-2009, 04:57 PM it doesnt say mazdaspeed anywhere in the title/description
Aznman101 04-01-2009, 05:00 PM I used the first number and talked to someone who told me it was mazdaspeed. I didn't think mazdaspeed rx8 existed in ANY country before talking to that guy.

mac11 04-01-2009, 05:04 PM SALE PRICE $14,995.00 AFTER $1000 CASH OR TRADE DOWN. SALE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE TAX, TAG, DEALER FEES OR DOWN PAYMENT
deeerrrrrr...wha??
outside of being blindingly over priced what is that even supposed to mean?
renesisgenesis 04-01-2009, 05:40 PM sometimes I wish i could see the person's face who actually thought it was a good choice of mods for this car. then i could mentally strangle them.
Sigma 04-01-2009, 06:05 PM I think the bigger joke here is that the dealer wants $16,000 for a 2004 RX-8 with 60,000 miles on it. Modifed like it is it might be worth half that, literally.
pdxhak 04-01-2009, 06:29 PM The only thing MS about it are the sides. The seats look beat as well.
neXib 04-01-2009, 06:32 PM So because no Mazdaspeed's were sold in USA they don't exist? Hello? :P
I'm also interested to know if they were sold in Japan or not.
Atilla 04-01-2009, 06:33 PM How the hell did i miss this mountain of FAIL!?
Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 04-01-2009, 06:35 PM you didnt miss it, thats why you're here right now :)
Atilla 04-01-2009, 06:38 PM indeed . . . I'm sorry i didn't catch it when it was first posted.

IIRC there were MS RX8 A-specs sold in Japan. There was some new bracing, areo kit, some tuning and that is it. There is a vid of Tarzan or some other famous Japanese racer driving one around a wet corner with the dsc on and off.
Again, IIRC.
mscamp02 04-01-2009, 07:00 PM You know it would have been nice if they released one though instead of just doing concept shit
Texak 04-01-2009, 07:00 PM one of the power seat controls is busted off. i was about to jump on this 'limited edition' until i saw that. :eyetwitch
dragonish 04-01-2009, 11:42 PM Call mazda and give them the vin #. They should be able to tell you exactly how the car left the factory and what items were on the vehicle when sold. I called them a bunch of times when I was looking for my 8 and turned out to be very helpful.
