Hi all! I'm having a fire-sale because editors haven't paid me shit this month! I'm selling my bright red Wilwood 14" front brakes, 2-piece slotted rotors, and braided stainless steel brake lines, and the matching 13" rear caliper relocation kit with 2-piece slotted rotors. $925 for both. Fronts are $1700 alone from www.tceperformanceproducts.com and the stock ones come in black. Mine are gloss red, thanks to help from Wilwood. Saves over 8 lbs of unsprung weight per side in the front. Saves a little in the rear due to the lighter aluminum hats, but I don't remember how much right now.

Call me at 760-799-0368, or text me, or send me a message through here. Photos can be provide upon request, though I don't have these off the car yet. I still have my stock brakes I can use, so these will be coming off very soon. Located in SoCal and can probably ship, if I can find my boxes somewhere... Would prefer to sell local though.

Click the link at the bottom to go to the magazine article featuring my car and these brakes! Photos there...

I really hate to give these up... damn editors!

omg, that's an AMAZING price!

yeah, makes me sick just thinking about it... gotta do what I can to pay bills... income has simply flat-lined for 30 days or more now... sucking hind-tit on my car loan and other bills... I've got to have the money to get out of the hole. There's just no other option.

Well, not if I want to hang on to my Enkei wheels and my Les Paul guitar! :banghead:

You already have the Greddy... buy the brakes! You know you want to! Ever seen bright red calipers on a white car? Totally awesome!

BTW-no track use on these brakes. I've never had the opportunity to do that yet.

Photo, I love your car, simply beautiful... I've seen it in a couple of magazines now. I'm sorry to hear about the tight finances, but here is a free bump. If I read your add correctly, less than a grand for a full big brake kit? Thats an amazing price, I would jump on it myself, but buying the wife her own RX-8 this week and installing a turbo in mine at the same time.

One note to everyone... Please do not chisel me on the price. I'm not a happy camper while selling these and asking uber-stupid questions like "Hey man, will you take $xxx, including shipping?" Dude, WTF? If you can't pony up this price for a BBK set, you don't really need them, do you?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr!

Will this kit fit with the stock rims?

Yes, I'm driving around on a set of dark chrome Shinka wheels at this moment. Keeping my Enkeis and Bridgestones in storage in my garage.

Don't post comments speculating about my brakes if you don't have them!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :banghead:

1. This kit uses the STOCK rear calipers, and mounts them on a NEW offset bracket using special 13" rotors on aluminum hats. The e-brake works fine. No one, Brembo included, makes an aluminum caliper upgrade for the rear of the RX-8, due to our e-brake cable setup.

I feel like I'm hawking drugs out of the trunk here already!

2. If you jump to 14" rotors and 4-piston calipers in the front w/o upgrading the rear you WILL cause the anti-lock system to activate sooner, increasing your stopping distances.

3. The fronts use Wilwood SL-4 calipers which have stainless steel pistons and dust seals. They'll probably outlast your engine!

4. They use Wilwood pads in the front, or any number of replacement pads for the Wilwood SL-4 caliper.

5. The rears use your STOCK calipers, and if YOUR pads are worn out, I would recommend replacing them.

6. The front and rear rotors on this kit are lightly used, but really have almost no grooving. That's because the slot patter wipes dust and rocks away which whould ordinarily hang in a brak pad and cause gouges in the rotor surface. I drive between 500 and 600 miles at a time in the car, on the freeways in LA. I've only put between 12k and 15k on this kit since it was installed.

7. One of the front hats was anodized, instead of powder-coated (older MFG process for Wilwood) and has faded slightly. The other 3 hats are powder-coated semi-gloss black.

8. One of the rear rotors has a slight high spot in it. This causes a slight "surge" when braking. It is so slight that I haven't done anything to correct it. I do not know if the rotor could be recut on a brake lathe due to the slots. It might be fixable that way. A replacement rotor should be available from Todd Cook at TCE Performance Products in Phoenix, AZ. His website is down for some reason right now. His number is 480-967-7901.

9. There is one nick in the red finish on the right front caliper, wher a wheel slipped as I was swapping out to stock wheels. Red touch up lacquer is available from Wilwood directly.

10. I'm not accepting PayPal on this because they take too much damn money. I do sell stuff on eBay all the time (guitar stuff) and you can check out my 100% positive feedback on there as 'porschemunkey' (old name).

11. I'm NOT paying for the shipping on these. That means if you live on the East Coast, it'll probably cost a bundle to ship everthing.

12. No, I don't know the shipping weight yet. I don't even know the number of boxes it's going to take yet.

Finally, here are some photos from BEFORE the kit was installed. The rotors pictured are the rear rotors. I figure you can tell the difference between 13" and 14" front rotors, right?

Wrong! See post #26 for details.

more photos, on the car

More details, the rotors front and rear have been zinc-dipped (plated) so that, except where the pads touch, they don't rust. Wilwood does this on all their rotors so Todd had the rear done the same way. Nice, eh?
