View Full Version : My 2004 "Scuderia Ferrari" RX-8 :)
h0rde 12-20-2003, 03:43 PM Found some Ferrari badges for the car on ebay, and I think they look really cool. I'm a huge Ferrari fan, so this is just going to have to suffice until I can get a real one. They are magnets, so they aren't permanent and won't damage the paint. Let me know what you guys think, I'm happy with them!

yeah i realize that, i certainly don't plan on leaving them on there all the time, especially if the car is just sitting in a parking lot or something.
Hymee 12-20-2003, 04:38 PM Hey - why not put them on the Cruiser in the background? :D
h0rde 12-20-2003, 04:42 PM here's a night shot

RXhusker 12-20-2003, 05:02 PM Looks good -- EXCEPT for that sunroof windshield :( that has got to go IMHO

yeah that came on the car, it looks like it just unscrews so it probably comes off pretty easily.
I would steal them and burn them just on principle. When do the pepboys aluminum wing and neons go in? Oh and don't forget the sticker on the windshield!
SlakkerJJ 12-20-2003, 08:15 PM I'm a fan of the sunroof deflector, keep it on it looks great...
KTM-316 12-20-2003, 08:28 PM that's a nice looking night pic.
sup3rbad 12-20-2003, 09:41 PM I don't like it. Just my O. I think it does the opposite of what you are trying to do and cheapens the look.
AlexCisneros 12-20-2003, 09:49 PM now if you could get the shields to have the "no piston" logo, then...
;)

i appreciate your useless comment but i have no plans to alter the external appearance of this car. My previous car was a Honda Prelude which I owned for 3 years and I didn't change the way it looked at all. Obviously I am not too thrilled about being compared to the people who do this. They're just magnets, i thought it was a cool idea, and you could have just said that you don't like it. My fault for asking for opinions i guess...

Ok, perhaps a bit harsh but I got my point across :p I'm just as blunt in real life if it makes you feel any better. This seems to be popular with Tiburons and Fieros as well, just fight the power and don't cheapen the car. They would look great on the fridge :D
monte 12-20-2003, 10:42 PM Hey it looks pretty cool.. although man...
thats just a lil too despirate.
In my eyes, you'd most likely get laughed at for having those :-/
But it looks nice, although its not a ferarri, its a mazda.
O by the way, thats the absolute BEST rx8 picture i have ever seen (the night pic). Thanks for sharing that one : ) i absolutely love it
SDFLY 12-20-2003, 11:57 PM lose the stickers, keep the wind deflector.

Damn I owned a Prelude for 3 years before I bought my 8 also. Great car.
Speed-ER doc 12-21-2003, 04:35 PM If you took all of the Mazda emblems off, it would look better (than it does now). Might fool some people for a second. Get a few more stares.
But still looks best without the Ferrari badges. It's a great car, be proud of it.
Super photos.

Deep Blue 12-21-2003, 05:01 PM Love your 8, but I too have a personal issue with cross-badging cars. I used to drive a 330Ci, and would always smirk at others with the same car that would fire the "M" badge on it. Different, I know, as people know there is massive difference between a Mazda and a Ferrari...but imho, you should be proud of the badge you bought.
I do really like the yellow on red contrast though.
Also not a fan of the sunshade.
btw - your 8 is identical to mine (red, w/ same accessories minus the sun shade)....nice choice!
:)

Sulla rx-8 no.
Matteo 12-21-2003, 05:22 PM Ah scusa intendevo :non attaccare adesivi Ferrari sulla rx-8
Ciao Mitico! (Understood Mitico?) :-)
SikRedRX-8 12-21-2003, 05:28 PM Nice 5th gen SH. Were you ever on preludeonline? Here are a few of mine. (the best year prelude 96 H23vtec)

I was on hondaprelude.com, which was a great community, but the webmaster has since run out of cash to keep it running. It was never as good as the bb here though...
Gord96BRG 12-21-2003, 06:18 PM Ferrari badges on any non-Ferrari are just as rice as Type R stickers on any non-Type R. It's orders of magnitude short of the Lamarossa, but still...
So, here's your solution - Team Voodoo badges (http://www.teamvoodoo.com/Voodoo/Pollophernalia.html) . The Voodoo chicken (also known as the Pollo Rampante) badge pays homage to Ferrari, without the rice factor. By yourself a Team Voodoo aluminum or titanium shift knob so that your membership in Team Voodoo is legitimate, and let your RX-8 wear the fender badges with pride.
I have a set of magnetic Voodoo fender badges that my Miata wears during competitions or some club events, and they're a lot of fun. They attract attention, but in a good, funny way, and nobody ever accuses me of posing because of them.
Regards,
Gordon

there is no most likely about it. you are already being laughed at. c'mon, what would you say if you saw bimmer decals on a civic? or a sentra? fine, you want a ferrari, so do i. go buy a racing jacket or something.

That's exactly what I was going to say . . .
Dick Carlson 12-21-2003, 07:55 PM Or, for that matter, get both the Voodoo and BS Levy's Montezuma's Ferrari stickers - see http://www.lastopenroad.com

thanks for paying attention, they're magnets and they go off and on in about .5 seconds. If you had read the thread, you also would have noticed that I already had to give ike a talkin to for being an (expletive deleted), so kindly keep your comments constructive and beneficial to the thread. So if you could go ahead and try to do that from now on, that'd be greaaaat...thannnks!

At ease. It's not like they're in a normal badge location, nor am I trying to convince folks it's some kind of Ferrari. If you'd looked, you'd see that the Team Voodoo logo is a chicken (as in voodoo) with the colors of the USA. The Montezuma's Ferrari sticker is done with chili peppers and the colors of Mexico - it's from a book about the Carerra Panamericana. Plus, I've been a Team Voodoo dealer and team member, and I do the web site for BS Levy and his books and merchandise. Those stickers are in the same place one might find a local car club badge or a service organization badge (like Shriners). It's no more than if I had put Eibach stickers there - which I admit is a bit rice boy.
So, are you going to give me sh!t about my Team Voodoo valve caps on the wheels??
Guess there is some confusion as to which photo this wanker is refererring .

Only if you keep your pics to yourself. You asked for this now take it like a man or delete the thread.
As for the voodoo badges I don't think it's a whole lot better. A select few in the Mazda community may know what they are but to most other people it's just going to look like a wannabe Ferrari badge (which it sort of is either way). I could see it for use at Mazda events or various driving competitions but to drive around with it every day is going to get a similar reaction to the ferrari badges.
ws_rx8 12-21-2003, 09:45 PM yea, take off the sticker, identity crisis..

I know when the Team Voodoo guys drive up from San Diego to the Monterey Historics, with their stickers on the sides of the Miatas, the truckers mistake them for Ferraris (overheard on CB radio chatter).

My point (which I thought I had expressed before) was that there's a difference between the people who said they don't like it by saying something like, oh, i don't know, "i don't think that looks good," and people like you, who would rather express your opinion (which i asked for, correct) along with making assumptions about the kind of person I am and then criticising me for things that you think I would do but haven't. When I read many of the responses in here I think, "maybe this idea doesn't do what I thought it would afterall," but when I read your posts, I think, "wow, ike is a jerk." I hope you understand why the difference is important.

That's ok, and you may or may not actually be a jerk, but it's not that important. I'm just saying you could express your opinions in a better way sometimes.
brothervoodoo 12-21-2003, 10:46 PM The sticker is well getting into rice-like territory. I would lose the sticker and the moonroof deflector...

Hey it's who I am, when I express my opinion I make sure it's very clear how I feel. Anyhow, I'm indifferent on the moonroof deflector.
Speed-ER doc 12-21-2003, 11:00 PM I just took my moonroof deflector off last week. The deflector blocks a lot of sun (or moon) when the opening is already small to begin with, and I didn't like that. It did, however, block a lot of wind noise which I didn't think would make that much difference but it really was better with it on.
I don't like the way it looks though, so it stays off.
h0rde 12-21-2003, 11:06 PM well since it's 30 degrees now I'm not exactly doing a lot of driving with the moonroof open, so I could take the deflector off now regardless. Perhaps I'll give that a shot tomorrow.
Jhouse 12-22-2003, 10:04 AM well i have to say its the first japaneese italian car i have seen
rx8fosho 12-22-2003, 11:30 AM love the pics and the Ferrari badge looks really cool
hondas2k 12-22-2003, 01:13 PM I really like that picture so in the spirit of the holidays, I thought I would make it look like a nice holiday card cover with this Photoshop effect.

austins2k2003 12-22-2003, 02:24 PM No offense but the car looks 100X better without the ferrari logo on there - you wouldn't put a dodge logo on your Mazda, or a Ford logo on it would you? Personally if a car has badges on it then it should be the badges of the manufacturer and thats it. Putting Ferrari logos on your car makes you look like a wanna-be and I think degrades your car and sends the wrong perception to people that you aren't proud of your Mazda and wish it were a Ferrari manufactured car with the same body features etc.
I saw a VTEC sticker on a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder once and I liken this to that kinda of de-flowering - I laughed so hard at the jackass in the eclipse it wasn't even funny!
Just my opinion - by the way that night shot looks awesome - just Photochop out the ferrari logos please!!
h0rde 12-22-2003, 04:44 PM i see the night pic went over pretty well. I'm going to try to take some more night pics and see how they come out, it's tricky but when they work it's nice.

I have to agree with Ike.
This is tasteless and shameless. I hope you remove them soon and may god have mercy on your soul.
BTW I know this is a very ugly post but I was hoping all of us would be against this type of thing. We dont drive civics or echos with racing flames down the side. An alternative may be to put them under your hood maybe with every part you mod on your car you can put a sticker on your car and show your pride that way.
You will get worse responses from others on the streets. Hell people may even key your car and call you a jackass for it. Resist the urge please!!

haha, ok they are m a g n e t s and as such i can't leave them on even if i wanted to since anybody walking by could just take them off. I never intended this to be a permanent modification to the car, i just thought it looked ok and i was asking for opinions.

boothguy 12-24-2003, 01:23 AM hOrde: Consider this. You were able to state your case for adding the Scuderia badges to anyone who took the time to read your opening thread, and you still got a majority of negative responses.
I understand that you're trying to pay homage to Ferrari on a car (the 8) that you're proud of. But nobody who sees the car will ever get your point. And IMO, you wind up doing a disservice to both marques (and yourself) as a result.
For the record, I'm a fan and owner of both marques myself but try to keep the demonstration of my two passions completely separate.
identity crisis if you ask me...so you like Ferraris? so does everyone else, go buy one...putting a Ferrari badge on a car less than a Ferrari is sacriligious...putting a badge on a car it's not even intended for is just plain faking it and is the VERY definition of RICE...VERY poor taste, IMO...
too bad they're only magnets because those badges may add so much mental horsepower (MHP), they're likely to fly right off! (j/k)
