Hey gang (from BC):

Looks like I broke my engine (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=169740).

Any input on local shops (or dealerships) to go to for serious engine repair?

Any good/bad experiences to report with local dealerships?

Thanks in advance!

Are you a member of BCRX8? There are plenty of members (one in particular) that could answer your question. I'd start there for sure.
Also, you do have your engine warranty extension right? You can download that Extended Warranty Here (http://www.racingbeat.com/pdf/rx8warranty.pdf) (Just in case the dealership helps you out)

As far as local shops to do this work... the BC forum (www.bcrx8.ca) is the best place to look. If you own an RX8 and live in BC... sign up man! ... it just goes without saying. ;)

You might have some luck with "Marco" from "Force Fed" in langely. He specializes in the 13B rotary engines.... unfortunately he's not much of a fan of the Renesis. Engine rebuild? I might ask him if he'd be willing, and how much it would cost. (He fixes rotary engines very often).

Besides that, there are options of repairing the engine yourself... if you are mechanically inclined, have a lot of time on your hands and ask the right BCRX8 people.

Other than that... if I were you, I'd fork out some cash and buy one of the new Renesis engines. Not sure, perhaps the 2009 engine can be used? (Better lubrication).

Hope to see you in the club!

Gryo Bot:

I did not have the engine warranty extension stuff... or I probably have it, but haven't opened it.

That definitely applies to what happened to my car.

If I was a woman, I'd pretty well want to have your kids right now.

Take it to the dealer...they should replace it. The coolant in oil thing is kinda makes it a non-issue really.

I know the mechanics in Wolfe Langley are good..and a few have had Signature replace engines with no problems as well

Yeah, it'll probably be the signature mazda in Richmond I get to do the work.

You just got a random fail. Also to Gyro bot, no you can't switch the New revised Renny engine into the series 1 car, unless you have a lot of money because many parts won't work. @ Uberjumper, this car has an 8 year 100k miles warranty for North America. It applies to Canada as well :)
