I happened to go by my Mazda dealer today and had them quote me prices on a plug change. Thought this might encourage or discourage someone into making a different decision.

Just plugs-$300+ incl./labor. Labor was quoted at $85 of that price.

So i had the parts guy quote me parts prices.

Coils - $35.62/each

Wires - $79.60/set of 4

Plugs - $40.98/each - leading
$61.72/each - trailing.

So for one total changeout from the Dealer -
that would be a minimum of $427.48.

On another thread I had mentioned changing plugs out. Advice was given about changing everything, but not to have it done at the dealer.

Where is the cheapest place to get/order this stuff from?
Please include specifics.

but of course, Street prices are MUCH lower than that :)

Plugs are going to be about the same price no matter where you get them from. You're only going to see a price gap of about $5 between vendors. For example I got my plugs from Autozone as a special order. Paid $85 for all four and got them the next day. BHR charges $81 for the plugs shipped. You're probably not going to find a deal on plugs, I wouldn't worry about it. Just changed mine out. The car pulls great all the way to redline. It definitely restored some lost horsepower. And there's no replacing getting experience under your hood.

Im not really looking for a "deal". Just trying to get the best bang for my buck. I just dont think most would spend the kind of cash that Mazda is asking for. Not to mention $85 just to change the plugs and nothing else. I do appreciate your time in responding.

And $85 for just the plugs is IMO a great deal. Mazda wanted $200+.

Mazmart(a vendor here) has a thread right now on a group buy for plugs. You might still be able to get in on it. It's about the same though.........roughly $81.00 plus shipping if I remember.

Bang for your buck is hard to find on this car. A cat-back exhaust which costs anywhere from $450-700 gets you an extra 4 horsepower. I'm planning on purchasing a catless midpipe which should yeild similar gains but for $200. Don't try and squeeze as much horsepower as you can, you'll go broke very quickly. Cuz again, guys have spent thousands of dollars and the horsepower gains are so small you wouldn't even notice. Maintenance should always come before bolt ons. Check out your plugs and if you feel that they need replacing (black or dark brown color) swap them out and there's your horsepower gain. Running on worn out plugs can sap over 10 horsepower from your car easily.
