I just got off of work this morning and the CEL came on. Same thing happened about 3 weeks ago. Both days it was very cold outside and it came on just as i was leaving work. I had auto zone read the CEL and it reads park/neutral switch, but my car is a 6 spd...so this doesnt make sense to me...

Any ideas what could be causing the light to come on?



Also, the CEL code is P0850, and the receipt from autozone says it is either an open/short circuit, or a failed neutral switch. I read another post about the heater blowing only cold air and how to fix it. Mine is doing this right now as well.....does anybody think that the wires for the heater are loose and they are causing the CEL light to come on?

alright...i searched the code and found some others with this problem. They all say that when idling, their car fluctuates rpms, up and down. Anyways, mine isnt doing this. It isnt doing anything out of the ordinary.... The only thing i have noticed that bothers me is when im sitting at a drive thru or somewhere close to a wall where i can hear echo, i will hear a slight rattle. if i put the clutch in, it goes away. As soon as i let the clutch out again, it starts up again. It is fairly quiet however, and like i said, I only hear it when im up close to a building or somewhere with an echo. Could this be a problem with the neutral switch? or something completely different?
