Hey guys/gals,

Its time for the first meet of the new year. Dates will be Jan. 23rd to 25th. Place Markham Park address is 16001 W. State Rd 84 Sunrise FL. 33326. For those out of town im working on hotel accomodations. Friday nite we invade Tower Shops, saturday will be the bbq at Markham Park. There will be more to come, i will update as time gets near, i just wanted to get the word out so guys can start making plans to attend. Hope to see you guys/gals out there and lets make 2004 a year to remember.

Thats fine......i might not be there but you'll be able to get it....you are the first and only RX8 that we have dynoed so it should not be too hard to find your read out.......:D See you at the bbq....

Hey, there are plans for a HUGE import meet in Markham, early Feb. Not sure what are the exact plans.

I just got my RX8 2 months ago, and I am dying to get with some other owners. I am definately down for this BBQ. I was just curious what to expect there? 3 days of BBQ is rather extensive, no?

Welcome to the forum. The bbq is going to be on saturday. Basically you can expect a group of rotary nuts talking about their cars and or others, hanging out having a good time. I will be posting more details soon. See you out there.

Well, I am just a Rotary/Sports Car neophyte, so you all can preach to me. I am eager to learn. Beer legal at that park?

Heres an update.....
Dates will be Jan 23rd-25th
BBQ will be the 24th, held at Markham Park(http://www.broward.org/parks/pri01600.htm) 16001 W State Rd 84 Sunrise FL, 33326.
Here is a basic outline of plans....
Friday 23rd we will be at Tower Shops
Saturday 24th 11am-til BBQ. During the bbq for those that want, i have arranged for the dyno. It will be 3 pulls w/ O2 for $50, for anual members of MRCCFL it will be $40.
Saturday nite we will go to the local hotspot where ive arranged for reserved parking for us.
Sunday is still open, we can all just meet and say bye before those that have to hit the road.
I will have info and details about the hotel accomodations for those out of town in next day or 2. There will be more coming, this was just a general outline. Hope to see a lot of you guys make it out. Thanks.

some one was just telling me that was the weekend of the chilli cook-off.

ahh... unfortunate... SAT's (haha yea im that young) that weekend lol... i believe on the 24th, so maybe ill show up for the next 2 days. if i can ill definately make an attempt to come out... sounds like fun

Lets see if they actually show this time, as last dyno day I was allby my lonesome.

There are 3 that ive found so far

AmeriSuite(954) 659-1555
and Marriot Courtyard 1-888-236-2427

Both are newly opened up in Weston right next to I-75 and down the street from the park. The Marriott courtyard offers a $69 deal per night (weekends).

Wesley Inn (954-845-9929) - on 136th St. The Wesley is probably the least expensive and you can take US-84 straight to the park and easily get to the Tower shops as well.

As i find more i will let you all know.

For after the bbq the MRCCFL has arranged for us to visit Speed Source. For those who don't know, these are the guys that are going to be racing the RX8s in the Rolex 24hours of Daytona the week after the bbq. You find out more at www.speedsourceinc.com
They have graciously allowed us to visit and tour their facility. Its approx 8 miles from the park so after we will caravan up.
As i finalize more details i will update and keep you informed. See you out there.

i will do this tour with everyone else. Also i just ordered my k&n intake i will have it on by teh time i get to the meets.

On January 31 Speed Source Race Engineering will be running their new
RX-8s in the GT class in the Rollex 24 hours at Daytona. They are also
running 2) 5.0 liter Ford Daytona Prototype cars (the big boys). They
have factory support from Mazda through Mazdaspeed. They have
Previously campaigned 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen RX-7s and Porsche 911s.

On Saturday afternoon, January 24th (1 week before the Rollex) MRCCFL
members and guests (everyone is welcome) will be visiting the Speed
Source shop in Sunrise. We will caravan from the BBQ at Markham Park,
to Speed Source. The owner Sylain Tremblay has graciously offered to
show us around the shop. This will be a great part of the weekend.


Friday night we'll kick off with the Car Show at the Tower Shops on
University Drive. Saturday morning will be dyno runs at Cartek Tuning
(near the Tower Shops). Please contact Damian (dvls_7@yahoo.com) if you
are going to have your car dynoed. The BBQ will start at around
9:00-10:00am. We will leave the park at 2:30 or so when we will head to
Speed Source. After Speed Source we'll meet at a nearby Chilli's for
dinner and then off to a (legal) late night import hangout.

I'll be there saturday. My K&N intake is on the way, and my rx7store resonated midpipe should be here before then too. Already have the borla cat-back. Haven't decided on the dyno yet though. What do you all think? Should I throw it on and see how I do with all these mods? :D

If ya havent done a baseline run stock, then your just gonna see what you have no. No clue about what changed. However, if all you wanna see is how much ya have now, then why not?

I was hoping for a stage1 before that to compare, but doesnt look likely, but even so I'll put it on just to see what the Greddy has done vs stock.

Ok guys/gals,

Few days left. Here is the run down.
I have secured a pavillion. We are going to be at pavillion #1. When you enter the park, after you come past the guard shack take your first left. Follow that around till you see pavillion #1, nice and simple....
Beer and wine is allowed, but no alcohol.....
Burgers and dogs etc...will be provided, if you want to bring your own of whatever else thats fine, i'll throw it on the grill for you.
Bring your own drinks.
For those that want to dyno, shop will be open at about 9:30am. So you can go to the shop first if you like.
For saturday night.
When we arrive at Street Legal Imports there will be parking for us.

Just got a call from Jeff, who runs Street Legal Imports, and unfortunately we will not be going there saturday night. Something came up and he will not be opening up that night. So as of now plans for the night are open for suggestions. If/when i come up with alternate plans i will post. If not, i'll wait for us to be together so we can all decide on what to do. Sorry for late change. Everything else is on otherwise.

I dunno about the RE intake, but just to give you an idea the K&N sounds very............italian. And all of my friends around here seem to agree that calling it very ferrari-like is a good comparison.

im out of school now, and my rx8 is done but teh driver cant pick me up till about 6:30 so im screwed + fedex said they shipped my intake to my house and left it there but its not there so i wont have my k&n intake.

I already heard the R-E one :D Thats why I want to compare them. But I wont make the meet tonight, since I just had the day from hell (capped off by a 6 mile stretch of turnpike at *4*MPH). Yes folks. 90 minutes to travel 6 miles. I swear I am gonna put a gun in my car and shoot the (*^^%(*& &%^** ^#^@($ rubberneckers! ARGH I AM SO PISSED.

Anyway, I'll hit the dyno early tomorrow and then head to the BBQ.

Thanks to all for coming out. I appreciate all the thanks, but it would not have been good without all of you who decided to come. So thanks again. We do have something in the works for April so stay tuned. There is a seperate thread that has been started, ive put a few pics in there, those that have pics post them up there. Thanks again.

That is the only other Speed Source RX-8. Sylvain mentioned to me that they had the other one at the fair. How cool is that? We got three the general public only got one. I believe this is the first time they've been seen in public in person.
