Written by enigmax (http://torrentfreak.com/author/enigmax/) on March 05, 2009 It’s been nearly nine years since Lars Ulrich became one of the most vocal opponents of Napster and the generation of file-sharers it spawned. Not one to speak about something he has no experience of, Ulrich has just admitted downloading his own album, Death Magnetic, and it was “bizarre”.

I like Metallica and still listen to them. I like the old and the new.

I've pirated every album they have and own the cd's for them too. As far as I care I own the rights to the music since I own the cd. Unfortunately cd's scratch. If they would kindly replace the cd's I will kindly delete the albums.

Most of my cd's I listen to alot have been scratched throughout the years. On a decent system cd's sound better than mp3's. I'd rather have the cd's working correctly. I think one of the MANY reasons digital has become popular is the nonvolatile storage.

If I buy a cd from sony music group and my sony cd player scratches the cd will sony replace it?

i didn't read the article, but if you own the copyright or publishing or otherwise intellectual property rights to a given work, downloading a copied copy doesn't really constitute piracy.

Sorry Lars. Your record company owns the internet distribution rights to your music, so you have absolutely no right to download your own album. You're robbing them and your band mates of their rightful revenue. Lets not forget all the people who had to be paid to setup your instruments, run the soundboard, encode the music, press the CD's.

You've robbed them all of their money. You should be sued for 10,000 per song you've downloaded.

The record companies should have seen it coming years ago and embraced it. They are fighting a losing battle. I hate to hear musicians bitch about it, they are way over paid anyway. Whah!, "I only made 20 million this year instead of 19 million". There are people who save lives everyday don't make in a lifetime what lars makes in a two week period.

^ wah.. have to buy the 4 passenger private jet instead of the 8 seater :crying:

always said... tours where they actually WORK should be the method of making money.. songs should be free for download for the general public to listen to and enjoy. still making MILLIONS on each tour... :banghead:
