He probably heard the ghetto rattle!

;)

You know... when your rear license plate frame is vibrating from the excessive bass!

But seriously most states and municipalities have laws on the books that say if your music can be heard from OUTSIDE the car whether the windows are up or down then it is a violation of the excessive noise laws. You can get the same ticket for having loud muffllers too.

this was at 5pm? shouldn't it be fine unless it's after noise cerfew (if there is one)?

sounds like a shitty situation to me.

All municipalities that have noise ordinances have standards.
Ask to see the A-weighted SPL measurement that the officer used to cite you.
I doubt he even had an SPL meter.
The fact is, even a really loud stereo will only produce 60 DB or so from 8 to 10 feet away with the windows up. That is just physics.
A conversation at a comfortable volume is louder than that.

i tested it myself to see how loud it was..i rolled up the windows put the volume to 15 as it was when i got the ticket and i could hear audio down the street but hardly, definately not 60 db and the bass isnt booming like 2 12's.
maybe i can use that against him in court..

Man, I can hear those sub-woofers in my apartment, three flights up, with the windows closed. Oh, I can believe that he could hear it.

Sorry, but I only like listening to music when I have a choice of listening to it or not, OR, I like the music that I am being forced to listen to. If you're one of "those" who don't play my kind of music - and you play it loudly, too bad. If not, too bad the other way too bad. :D See? I have a choice too. I wish I could rip out some tickets like that once in a while. I just love those "WTF you lookin' at" expressions - head bobbing front-to-back when I look over at the guy too. Just gives me a real warm feeling all over, ya know? You're not one of those. That's why there's a law though.
