During break-in, I kept the rpms and acceleration to respectable levels not getting to nuts. But now.........I just can't seem to drive like that anymore. I certianly don't go spiining wheels or racing off the line, actually my starts are well mannered, it's just when I get the move on......I cut loose up until the speed limit then back off.

I was trying to be conservative this tankful just to see if it made a difference in my mileage since i started humping on it. But I can't do it.

i find myself cruising around in 3rd gear alot, just to play with the power at hand. I'm not strictly city driving, though i contend with plenty of lights.

I know i don't abuse my car and I've only taken it to 8k once. I hit 100mph going over a causeway only to back off to 70.

What's wrong with me? Do I need to seek help? am I a performance junkie? I know I'll be procuring CZ Stage 1 at some point. Where can i seek help?

I have owned a Dodge Stealth Twin turbo years ago, but it was never as much fun as this car......

I have the same problem -- I very often "forget" to shift up to 4th cruising around. There's no cure...and just wait until you redline it for the first time! ;)

Welcome to the club... I have been addicted to performance cars for many years and I have found a happy medium in this car. I loe the way it climbs so smoothly to high revs and how easily it corners. I know that there are improvements that can be made but as a stock production car my baby puts a smile on my face every time I drive her :D . Maybe you should ask for a good laser/radar dectector for x-mas. Some police officers aren't very appreciative of going from 0-60 as fast as your car can get you there and even though you may not be speeding they can still issue you a ticket. Have fun with your baby.

We need to start a support group, I have the same problem..

I was doing 100 over the CCC late last night... Well I was only doing 75 till a Ford focus passed me doing 100+ and since I had a blocker and it was all clear....:D

More than a support group, we need a few lawyers and a monetary fund to pay-off fines.

I can't do it either. I will never know what is the best MPG I can get with my 8. I've tried a couple of times. I'm filling the tank thinking "OK this tank I'll baby it to see if I can get the posted MPG," then a few minutes later, I leave the station WOT. It's become habit to WOT every chance I get.

My MPG is getting steadily worse. The car is just too much fun to drive with the revs up high- I don't even care any more.

hehe... not a bad problem to have! Unless the speeding tickets start piling up.

To help exorcise your speed demon, and exercise your 8, hit a local autocross or two. It'll be fun and you won't get a ticket for going as fast as you can on the course.

And as an FYI... I am seriously considering a top-notch detector too...

racerdave,

You might want to check out the Valentine detectors. The one they make is fantastic also the S2-Solo is pretty good.

Hi - my name is joaquin - AND I AM A REV-aholic!

I do 123mph everyday on the way home between my last stop sign on open road and the entrance to my subdivision, going through an apex and a 90 degree hard right - awesome! - I think I already need new tires...

And just to check with y'all - can you feel the dynamic control pulsating through out the corners?

Forget MPG!

You know, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

I don't have a problem. I can quit anytime I want to. :D

And I forgot

This is the best 3rd gear that I've ever driven in any car!
