Hi all,

Sorry about the orange looking pics and cut off shots but my garage is only so big.

I spent this weekend watching it snow and working on the car. I got 4 coats of Zaino on it, WOW its slick stuff. I did the clay bar, 2 coats of Z5, and 2 coats of Z2.

And I put the strakes and front mud guards on this morning. Easy job that took about 45 minutes for the first side, then 15 minutes on the other. I do like the looks of the mud guards.

And I found out something very important.......my golf clubs do fit in the trunk!! That was the first reason I nixed the 350Z.

Very nice Sea Ray, do you have a double garage? (noticed reflecting off the drivers door)

Sea Ray

Yes it is a 2 car garage, notice the snow outside? Almost like you guys in Canada :)

Great stuff Sea Ray and yes. I noticed the amazing reflection off your car and just had to ask :p Looks like that zaino is a miracle in a bottle! Are you driving it in the white stuff? (please say no, please say no...) :(

This car will probably not leave the garage with even a hint of rain, let alone snow! Just a toy for me, I feel for the guys that have to use theirs as a daily driver and keep up with the cleaning.

Great choice of options. Exactly the same as mine except I don't have a spare. Well exactly the same until I recently put on the snow tires and 17 inch rims. Please don't feel for us that use thier car as a daily driver. I love driving it daily! And with Zaino, it's not hard to keep clean. Everything just slides off so easily. BTW, with snow tires and DSC, this car handles better in the snow than ANY other vehicle I have ever driven including SUVs.

Hi Red RX,

After looking at Gordon's car set up with snow's, it looks like a sporty sport UT. But I am fortune enough to have a nice Ford Powerstroke 4x4 to get me thru the snow, sluch and salt. I'd rather not test the Zaino with salt unless I have no other choice.

I know this summer I will be driving it to the lake every weekend rain or shine. Lots of curves and winding roads that were a boring drive in the truck or volvo, not anymore :)

Post a pic of your red sled, I mean RX :)

Looks great! Man, that Zaino really brings out the metallic in the Velocity Red... I rarely see that in photos. And you've convinced me that I want the front mud guards- it not only completes the aero look, it should help keep the sides cleaner in snow, slush and rain.

SeaRay - Toy for me as well. No rain and definitely no snow. Took delivery 10/22 and I don't even know if my windshield wipers work! Jealous of the bigger garage. I have a single car garage that doesn't allow me to work on the car at all. Great pics Thanks for sharing.

Nice ride - other than the tint, have you made any other mods to the interior? Stealth V1 install perhaps? :D

Sea Ray

Thanks everyone!

Qhris, What, you don't like the tint? I think it makes it look cool and mysterious, plus when those young chicks pull up along side to check it out, they can't tell some old silver hair is driving it :)

The tint is actually pretty light on the doors, 15%, then the small windows are 20%, and back is 25%. With the black interior it still looks plenty dark. I have always tinted my cars and trucks so this was done without much hesitation.

No other mods yet except the fog light rewire inot driving lights. I most likely will put Carzoomers module in after it is out a while. I don't want to increase the sound by putting on an exhaust or intake, at least until I can see/hear one in person.

Bring on the snow! I have more Zaino for the 8, or I have 3 other vehicles that could use a polish.

Sea Ray, I like the tint! I like the tint! My intent was to discover if you had made any modifications to the interior in addition to the tint. In fact, I intend to have my windows tinted in the spring!

Nice ride! The tint looks fine to me. How long did the Zaino take to dry in the cold weather. My blue baby is due January 3rd and I don't want to leave her 'unprotected' in the weather we get over here (England). But I'd heard that Zaino takes an age to dry in the cold. I had planned on using a regular wax until the summer. Any thoughts?

.....Funny how much more we find in common with threads....

Looks good and now I need to work on mine!

Hi Weevil,

I set up a heater in my garage and it was probably around 60 degrees. The light coats dried in 30-40 minutes, a heavier coat took about 90 minutes. I put on the mud guards and stakes inbetween 2 coats.

The Zaino kit comes with the new quicker dry stuff that speeds up the process as compared to the original. The main key is to have several large cotton towels to wipe, turn and buff with.

have fun,
Dean

Thanks for the info Dean. Over here the average garage is slightly larger than the RX8 - you can hardly get out the driver door without hitting the wall. No joke. So I think I'd better wait until the summer before Zaino'ing!

Hi All, I finally got some outdoor pics of the 8 today. I also put a couple more coats of Zaino on it, 6 total now. That stuff is pretty amazing.

SeaRay - I noticed on the most recent pics that your fog lights are on w/o the driving lights being on. Is that a rewire on your part? If so was it difficult to do? I like the way that looks. Thanks in advance.

Hi Success07,
I did the fog rewire as per one of the threads on the group. Lets see, it took a total of about 3 minutes. It took longer to get the tools and stuff than thte actual mod. Easy. I leave them on all the time now.

I may be heading up your way next weekend with the wife. Driving the 8 it the weather is nice enough. I would love to hear your car with the exhaust and intake.

SeaRay - Absolutely. Send me a pm and we can set something up for next weekend. I'll search for the rewire thread, thanks.

I didn't get red cause its gonna be like the RX-7, everyone has a red rx7, the most common color. Now putting that to one side, that red is absolutely beautiful. When it gets in the sun it really comes to life.

Sea Ray,

Kudos to your hard work and beautiful 8! I have the same set-up less the front mudguards and strakes. I am watching the mail for my Zaino and cannot wait to apply. I hope to add the strakes soon! Just turned 400 miles and no issues!

HI Zero, I was torn between the tit gray and red, but like you said, it is stunning in the sun. And heck its a sports car, make it a bold statement for my mid life crisis.

Thanks Winbrad, its a labor of love, the zaino that is. It goes on so easy, and bugs just wipe right off. Your stable of other cars is similar to mine. I have a 1997 Volvo 850GLT and 2000 F250 powerstroke 4x4. The wife has her Honda mini-van. Plenty of other options when the weather is bad. The 8 has not seen any rain yet, let alone snow.

I agree.

Most people don't take enough time or effort to get the car in nice surroundings before taking pics.

Good job.

Hi All,

Went on a road trip to Ashville, NC and took a few pics. Thought I would share....

Sea Ray

And what trip would be complete without a few rides thru the DRAGON?? That was the best part for me or course. Had a good time folowing some Mini Cooper's thru the tail, they could not shake me at all. Not sure if they handle that good but it was all I could do to keep up with them.
