Last week i decided to get buy some federal 595SS 235 40... i wasnt really looking into buy some outrageously priced oem tires, so i decided to get these durable "drift" tires...
last sunday we decided to go an a run up the highway 33 and i noticed that the money that i saved on buying cheaper priced tires was not worth the downgrade. my tires were rolling so bad, i felt like i was riding on stock suspension(mad body roll). im pretty sure i messed up on the tire size... im running the stock oem wheels, any suggestion on some tires that perform just as good or better than oem tires? sizes? and yes i did use the search function

 

i think its gonna be the taller sidewall thats flexing way too much...

I'm on my second set of Fuzion ZRi's (245/40/18) and really like them. They are cheap, made by Bridgestone, have a nice firm sidewall and plenty of grip. Cheap too.

 

give them more air pressure when you are going to be doing any hard cornering.

 

there already at 45psi all around...i dont know much about tire pressure. but uhh isnt that high? because the owners manual said only 32psi for the stock 225/45's potenzas....

 

You are way overinflated. Overinflating a tire will reduce traction just as much as underinflating. Tire traction versus inflation pressure is a lopsided bell curve and traction falls off faster on the high pressure side. There's no reason to go over ~35-36 psi on the street. Drop you pressures to around 35 and reevaluate your tires.

 

Pretty sure he doesn't want so much grip. I could be wrong but drift tires, rotary drifter, etc :D

What did you want out of the set of tires when you purchased them?

 

yeah i know i got wat i payed for but the rolling is just too outrageous...

 

Wait, do you mean that you are getting more body roll or that the tires are rolling over onto the sidewall?

If you are getting more body roll, well, that would sort of point to the tires gripping more and inducing more motion in the chassis. I can't see how the tires would induce more body roll any other way.

I think it's worth mentioning for all the new people. The most important part of the car when it comes to handling is the tires. You can have the best coilovers, the best sway bars, then most super awesome strut bars.. but if you're rolling on sub par rubber you're going feel nothing but pain. The tires are always something you should spend the most that you can afford on since they will have such a huge impact on how the car drives.

There will always be times when money is tight and you can't afford good tires, but just be prepared for how much that is going to change the driving experience. There are some good lower price tires but that usually equals much lower tread life.

 

yup.... i got my economy tires... but next time ill go big....
