I purchased a used 2005 Shinka (Black Cherry Mica) just recently. The Strakes (which I dont belive are original with the car) were painted to match the Black Cherry of the car. The paint on them seems to have not had a clear coat and is starting to fade away.
I am looking at picking up a new set from Rx8Strkes.com and I'm wondering if anyone can speak about the durability of the Black Cherry Mica paint from them. I would hate to run into the same fading after a year.

I had some fade on one side of my original RX8Strakes set, but they replaced them (all four) free of charge and all good since. So, they get an 'A' for customer service in my book.
Of course wax them as you would the vehicle body to help preserve.

I have velocity red strakes from them, and they're awesome... but I've only had them two months so I can't speak to their durability yet. I've only ever heard good things about these guys, tho. I would say go for it! :)

I take great care of my car (as many know). I bought a color matched license plate frame in VR from them. After 6 months it started to turn pink. Mind you I waxed it all the time and 90% of the time my car is in the garage. I asked if they would replace and the answer was, "No, it's not within the warranty period". How do you warranty a plate frame? Needless to say I was a bit upset. In the end I had to repaint myself.
really? you would think the rx8 family would stick together on this. and make customers happy
