There is a monster rat outside my door. He's been hanging out by my door for the last 4 hours. Poor little fella looks like he's freezing to death. When I first noticed him coming home from work, he seemed to have more energy. I'm not sure if he's domesticated...we don't have a rat problem, so he could be someone's pet. I tossed him some pizza crust but apparently staying warm was on the top of his to-do list, because he's just staying cuddled in a corner now, and is almost lifeless. Poor little bastard...SHOULD I TAKE HIM IN?? What would YOU do??

I'd try to save him, but I'm a pretty big softie when it comes to animals. What color is it, if it's not a gray color wouldn't that prettymuch make it domesticated?

yo, he's a rat! not that i'm some masochistic bastard but rats will always find a way to survive...the more you feed him the more he will become reliant on you...and rats breed like rabbits so if you take him in, who knows when you'll have a few dozen Bens? also, you don't even know if he's sick, he could be rabid or carry some other form of disease...rats aren't domesticated and are still considered wild animals, i say get him tripping on some Strict 9 rat poison...at least he'll die like Jerry Garcia

I just checked on the little guy...poor thing is laying on it's side...lifeless. Must have frozen to death. I checked only two hours ago and he was scratching at my door...desperately clinging to life. Moment of silence please.

i hate rats...they are disease ridden and are pests..i would have ran over him with my mx5...

they tried to put a guy in Jersey in jail a couple of years ago for killing one in his garden. turned it was a protected "jersey brown rat". any of it's kids show up winning?

One of our cats left us a dead field mouse at the back door yesterday....

We had a little mouse problem at the house, our exterminator thought he could take care of it - wrong.

First week we got a cat - no more mice.

put a shovel through its midsection just to be sure it's dead, then toss that f-er in 2 garbage bags, then to the trash.....put on gloves when you handle it.

You mean he should put the 2 separate halves in 2 separate garbage bags? Are rats able to fuse their dismembered body parts together? Man, this happened 2 months ago - I hope he knew about this.

Yeah, old thread, but... could this "monster rat" possibly have been a young opossum? They're often mistaken for rats. And the behavior this animal was exhibiting was completely unnatural for either species; it was probably too far gone to help anyway.

If its any consolation, death by freezing is supposedly pretty painless...

Klegg I thought you said you had found that missing rat from your early prototype to the KleggSpeed Stage I mod. If you still have that rat anywhere near your home I suggest that you get rid of it now. I am not trying to alarm anyone but if you have alergic reactions to radiation you should get it away from your house immediately. Klegg started out by experimenting with different motivation sources and discovered that cattle prods work best but before the cattle prod... Well let's just say it didn't work too well...

remember "playing possum" means to play dead. so maybe this was an opossum and wasn't really dead

Yes, we tried several diffrent ways of "persuasion "..including bombardment with high dosages of gamma radiation, shot through a prototype partice accelerater....one did get out...for GODS sake man, cover your groin with lead foil...
