Hey i am new, but i am planning on buying an rx8, I was wondering there are many deals out there like 05 with 27,000 for only 14k. So I was wondering anyways to find out if there is something wrong with the car.
also referring to the title RX-8 Power Control Module (PCM) Flash Service i wanted to get it and I wanna know what it does.

first off, welcome!
There are plenty of good deals on used RX-8's right now. Where are you located?
There is no real PCM reflash service. The dealership does flash the PCM from time to time if there is a Service Bulletin or recall.
Are you referring to something you can buy on our own to check the PCM?
If so, then the AccessPort might be for you. It can read Check Engine Codes, Monitor data as you drive, and you can even flash the PCM to different parameters. (this is something you should do only after you've studied the car for a bit. Changes to PCM can cause problems if you are not familiar with tuning)

yeah to flash yourseflt the accessport is the wa to go just for pcm flashes that the dealer feels are better than the current one then the dealership will do that but will post a tsb for it!

Thanks for the welcome. I read it lets people rev to 9700 rpm. heres a youtube of someone doing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cFWDJlRoAo
Do you need it to rev that high?
Also heres the link to two cars i am looking at

Yeah with the accessport it will allow you to rev that high. I wonder about the dealer reflash if it will let you rev that high hrmm anyone know?

Is there any reason to rev higher than 9500 on a stock NA engine?

Not that I know of, but that video actually only revs to 9300 [Racing Beat Flash]. The tach is just off a few hundred rpm on the high side.

there is no benefit reving higher than 9100 rpms on a stock engine even with an aftermarket flash tuner. You don't make any more power beyond that point. You are just causing harm to your transmission if you attempt revving beyond that point

There is a reflash service. It is offered by Racing Beat.
Here is a link to their page: http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm

yeah max power is made at like 8700 rpms past that it just drops off anything in the 9700 area is just a waste of gas and start to break stuff
