Hey guys... well I broke down and bought myself an S-AFC2 (great deal on ebay). Problem is it is damn near impossible to find the connections off of the ECU that I need to connect to get this thing online. Also, the US Dealers do not sell the wiring diagrams yet and the manual that the dealers engineers have does not show the output wires on the ECU. If anyone has access to the ECU wire diagram, I will share the how to install with you guys and also pay your phone charges if you can fax or email to me. Also, if you know where I can get a wiring diagram in the US I would be happy to buy one as it seems like I am going to need it. By the way, you will need to extend the cables on the AFC due to the location of the ECU.

You'll probably want to talk to canzoomer. He's probably got the most experience here with regards to the ECU harness right now.

Before you go too far though, bear in mind this unit does not yet have ROM maps for the MAF and O2 sensors in your car.

As far as I can tell, the S-AFC has no real "maps" of any kind.
Once you find a setting that is roughly equivalent to the response curve of the MAF (which really just amounts to a range and polarity setting), the rest is just math.
Also, the S-AFC doesn't specifically have an O2 sensor input.
It is designed for RPM, TPS, MAF/VAF/MAP and KS.

Yah I could definately use the wiring diagrams.

Once I get it lit up, I am going to take it down to Huntington Beach and do some dyno tuning with it. I will post results. I am not expecting too much though.

Found all the wires (Thanks Maurice)... haven't tested much yet, but the lights come on. Need some more time to configure. Hoping I can get some dyno time to tune this thing tommorrow.

Bah! No dyno time this weekend. Also, what is interesting is the way the knock sensor works on this car. I am not sure that it works at all. It obviously does, because some people have had CELs thrown at them for a knock. Anyways i'll try to figure that mystery out over the week and hopefully get some dyno time next saturday.

Ahem.
I warned you that some things are "different" on the RX-8.
For example the knock sensor voltage and signal type.
Or the MAF sensor voltage and signal type.
Or the O2, and don't foget there is a barometric pressure sensor.
Also, the ignition trigger pulse is "unusual"

I suggest you be very careful.
You can create knock on a rotary and NOT HEAR IT.

Not without significant modifications. If not for the fact that I got this one for less than $150 I wouldn't be messing with it. But for the price... who could resist.

I was just wondering because I have a s-afc. Not a s-afc II. Thought it would be cool if I could use it...but after talking to Rob@Pineapple Racing, tonight, it seems that he will be marketing a programable ecu for the Rx-8. Due out late Janurary. Atleast thats his hopes. :) Target cost is around $1300. Thats the path I'm probably going to travel down. CJ
