I was out at a club this weekend and valet parked my 8. (I know some of you would'nt let a valet touch your car w/ a 39 and 1/2 foot pole -but I digress) Anyway I come out & there is my car parked in that sweet valet spot, you know the ones out front where they show it off. And right behind it in a parked in a regular valet spot in between an old beater Mercury Sable and a Camero is a silver Ferrari. Don't ask me what model- never was into Ferraris that much; but it couldn't have been more then 2 years old & was a convertable. Seems the 8 looked better to them. I was so proud I felt ashamed!

i went to a restaurant for dinner with my rents few nights ago. When i pulled up to valet, the valet just let me park my car myself in the front. It was right next to a C55 AMG..

Gotta love the Queen's English. I thought it was funny when the host of Top Gear said the RX-8 was "like a four-door saloon" and one of the other threads broke out into chaos over whether it was appropriate to refer to the newest Nissan as the 350 "Zed." Now I find out that one of the drawbacks of the RX-8 is that it draws the attention of the constabulary? LOL. Very educational, this site.

I got my 8 the day before my wedding anniversary, so the next day we took it to dinner in La Jolla. Your only real option for parking at this place is valet so I let the guy park it. It turns out he parked it right in one of the four "special" spots in front of the restaurant (so he drove it a total of about 50 feet, including the return trip). Anyhow, when we came out it shared the four spots with a new SL500, a Jag XK8, and a S55 AMG. I thought it was kinda funny them parking my little $31K 8 next to those other cars, but they parked 'em, not me...

This makes me wonder, in the US do you guys call the 350Z the "Zee"? That would sound funny, you crazy Americans and your backwards english. :D

We don't use the words coupe and saloon in Canada like they do in the UK, but we definately pronounce it 350Zed, like it should be.

The Letter "Z" is pronounced "Zee". A saloon is an Old West bar with swinging doors. A salon is where ladies get their hairs/nails done. And coupe is pronounced "coop", not "coo-pay". :D

The letter "Z" is properly pronounced "Zed". Saying "Zee" is like pronouncing the letter "K" as "Ka" instead of "Kay". Not that I'm an english teacher or anything, it just sounds so weird when someone says Zee. My mom and sister are both english teachers and this was always a pet peave of theirs. I wonder where the "Zee" thing came from, anyone know?

I won't argue the Saloon and Coupe thing, we don't use those here either, I'd feel pretty stupid calling the RX-8 a coo-pay

Oh, and only the newfies say "aboot", the majority of Canadians don't.

I had a 73 MG once. While changing the brakes, my trusty Haynes manual said "Make sure you use the correct brake spanner when installing the springs"

Me and the parts guy in Charleston SC spent about two hours trying to find a brake spanner for a 73 MG. We thought it was some special part unique to british cars.

only later did we learn that a spanner is a wrench. Turns out I had a whole box of them in the boot for working under the bonnet.

And it is "Zee" not "Zed". Don't beleive me? Just sing the ABC song. It ends with "double-you, ex, why, and zee. Now i know my eh bee seas...."

You hoseheads need to loosen your tooks and lay off the back bacon and Molsens.

I'll have to dig it up but there is an knowledgebase article at Compaq (now HP) about the definition of the "any" key and what you should do if you are looking for it.

well one of my friends was trying to by and rsx so he called one of the local acura dealerships in diamondbar and told the operator that he wanted a by an rsx but because of his accent it sounded like I want to buy oral sex. The operator called him a pig and if he called again she was going to call the cops. :D

Ferrari are special, artcraft, not-so-usual,
very fast, good-looking,rare car

I know Matteo- that was the whole point of the thread - it was very unusual that the Mazda was put in better spot. It is always the other way around (not my decision where the Valet parked it BTW) But I'm sure in a few months the newness of the RX-8 will wear off & the Ferrari will reclaim the sweet spot for valet parking. Don't worry Ferrari will always be seen as a status symbol for old guys who try to bang young women

Yes there is life outside Texas - but it is much smaller :D

Is not a problem if the mazda take the better place in front a club....pretty good, is a car very "up-on-the-wave" today (britney..ludacriss and other sh.t)...but it will never be a better (looking, driving) car than a Modena...this is the point
those two cars are complety different products for different people who maybe have in common only one thing: THEY LOVE DRIVE FAST
A person like you who have bought a 8 simply can't resist in front a car like the Modena (after a second you can think "i like more Porsche turbo" or "nothing in front a viper") but if you like live the car in a certain way you simply don't appreciate a Ferrari (more than a mazda, it's sad but true)

I agree completely Matteo - Ferrari are more like precise instruments than cars. If I were that valet I wouldnt have parked it where he did - that car was wasy too nice- it was odd were he parked it & dont think I would happen again. I never have been into Ferrari's because they are so expensive. They are the most famous Italian export in the world, next to Roberto Benigni

BTW whats with knerk with the KKK - do you think im in the klan or do you just have cerebral palsy? :D JK

That is very cool - I have always had a preference for the Ferraris from the 1960's - those were the best looking IMO. So do you think your father-in-law will ever hand over the '69 dino to you & get a new one? That would be cool. I am rampant w. jelousy just thinking about it

I know the volvo's very well :) those are nice - when ever my brother rents a car for business he got one of those or something close to it. They are fast & very comfortable. The 850 turbo wagon can go up to 150mph w/ 5 people in it & full load of cargo.
The 2 autos I own are the RX-8 (of course) and a ford ranger pickup truck. What do you drive?

They live in minnesota that = really f**king cold. The water in their pipes froze & broke. so water went everywhere & froze again all over the cars - that poor Porsche- it didnt even have a chance.

Yes - a responsible person would turn off the water to the garage & drain the pipes to prevent that. Mother Nature will always have say in human affairs. Disasters are not only big in the USA - Italy has had some major floods - and Mt Vesuvius is overdue for another big eruption - you guys are such show-offs :) - joke

if Vesuvio erupt makes to me a big favour those motherf**kers that have builded the houses near the volcano whitout any permit, for the flooding i'm littlebit scared because i'm living 2 o 3 kilometers from Po river (the major in italy) but there are big (dont know the word in english) artificial hills to prevent flooding, that have worked well in the pasts years (no flooding here in my city since 1957).

the word in English for (artificial hills to prevent flooding) is "levy" or “dike”- add those to your vernacular (vocabulary). Your English very impressive - In the USA or schools don’t push learning foreign languages very much- oh well :(

There is an Italian place near me called Nero's , the guy running it has lived here for like 3 years & has 4 resturants & a black Corvette. The food there is the best Italian I have ever had. Makes me want to move to there & open up a BBQ place
