View Full Version : Eibach Install
sup3rbad 12-09-2003, 05:18 PM There's two springs with a plastic cover on half of the spring. Would it make a difference which ones i put in the front and rear? I'm just waiting to my friend to make some room in his schdeule to install the eibachs.
Will post pics when done.
another8owner 12-09-2003, 09:51 PM put mine on a few days ago, looks sweet and rides great, as for the plastic on the springs, the shop that did mine put them on the rear, bottom line is..........the car looks so much better lowered, good choice again, you wont be dissapointed.
sup3rbad 12-09-2003, 10:04 PM Thanks a lot.
mikeb 12-10-2003, 12:21 AM can you guys post pics
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 12:42 AM I'll post pics tomorrow Mike. I should've done that in the first place to prevent any confusion. I would do them right now but the oghting is inadequate. My camcorder doesn't do so well under low light conditions.
syntrix 12-10-2003, 09:02 AM The springs should have been a different length between the front and rear. Were the ones with the plastic "taller" than the other ones?
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 01:21 PM the plastic covered srpings are taller. I'm guessing they go in the rear?
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 01:30 PM here ya go
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 01:31 PM the springs in the middle are shorter
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 01:32 PM eta for install is this weekend. hopefully.
syntrix 12-10-2003, 01:34 PM With the stockers, the longer ones are in the back. However, compressed, it might not be the case with the eibachs.....
Are there any markings on the springs?
Just trying to see if we can nail it down without "assuming" ;)
syntrix 12-10-2003, 01:36 PM Wait... let me get a pic of them from home... my fronts are compressed still, and my rears are loose.
I'll uncompress a stock front one to double check for your. Better safe than sorry!!
Ned M 12-10-2003, 05:23 PM If the spring rates are marked on the springs, the higher rate (usually shorter) spring goes up front and the softer rate in back.
If they're not clearly marked, you'd best call Eibach. Last I had their number it was (714) 752-6700. You would be seriously unhappy with the ride if you get them in backwards.
Please post some after-pix.
Thanks
syntrix 12-10-2003, 06:10 PM Agreed, just give eibach a quick call to be 2x sure.
I just compared the two springs, and the rear is definately longer, and even though the front is still compressed, I don't see how it could be longer than the rear when it does uncompress.
I'd take a pic but my digicam battery is dead right now:(
sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 08:14 PM The springs have the same number on them except theres a difference. The taller spring has "HA" in the end and the shorter has "VA" in the end. for example 55701VA 55701HA
syntrix 12-10-2003, 08:27 PM 2x check with eibach with those part numbers.

sup3rbad 12-10-2003, 08:50 PM The part number on the box is the same one on the site. 5544.140 Does anyone else think the Eibach Faq sections is retarded?
Q: Is there a hint how to install the Pro-Kit spring?
A: Yes! The springs have to be installed that side up that you can read the printing.
sup3rbad 12-11-2003, 04:07 PM Okay. The pt number with the VA in the end is the front springs (shorter srpings) and the HA is the rear spring (taller springs). ETA hopefully this weekend.
syntrix 12-11-2003, 07:41 PM Always good to double check. Feels good now, doesn't it?
Can't to see some pics of your car on the new springs!
sup3rbad 12-21-2003, 03:04 AM update* no springs installed yet. night coming earlier and school make time to install a bit hard to find. i guess that's the price i have to pay for a "free" install.
another8owner 12-21-2003, 09:18 PM heres mine w ith eibach kit installed.
not a very good pic though.
mikeb 12-22-2003, 12:20 AM looks good another 8 owner
Genom 12-22-2003, 12:32 AM So you guys with the springs, how have they settled? is it even? Any change in the ride after settle?
eclps0 12-22-2003, 01:14 AM Did any of you guys go for service yet at the dealer. If you did get service what did the deler say about teh springs, and can they void the suspenion warrenty. I might have my mazda deler install my springs if i decide to get them.
another8owner 12-22-2003, 01:27 AM i work for a dealership, nothing said to me about warranty issue other than they wouldnt install aftermarket springs, as for the settling well after one lap around the block they set just fine, heck my alignment was even still within tolerances.
the ride is fantastic, not much different than stock IMO.

I dont want to be a pest but can u find out if tehy will void the warranty, if not i will buy right now. I go to gunther mazda, tehy said tehy wont void the warranty on the intake, or exhaust. So maybe tehy wont on springs.
mikeb 12-22-2003, 02:54 PM I have eibach springs and my dealer has replaced my oilpan and rotated the tires since no problem
another8owner 12-22-2003, 04:50 PM voids warranty on springs only for us but it should be up to the service managers discretion as to wether or not void the warranty on the entire suspension of the car, usually if a problem is caused due to the aftermarket componets part then the issue is not under warranty, warranty covers defects in work or craftsmanship from the manufacturer only. so if you do have an issue do one of two things:
1. ( most important ) kiss ass to the service manager if a problem arises
2. reinstall stock springs before you take to service ( as long as prior they didnt know you moded the car )
Jhouse 12-23-2003, 02:39 PM quite honestly i doubt my dealership would even notice. unless they were painted bright yellow and said eibach on them
