View Full Version : Have only seen two other 8's
sazebac 12-09-2003, 02:41 PM Since I got my 8 I have only seen two others on the road. I hope it stays this way. I want my car to stay unique. I like the fact that there aren't any other cars on the road like mine (not yet). So if you are browsing the forumn trying to decide if you want to buy an 8 or not. Don't! Buy something else. The 8, uhh... sucks. Yea. Terrible.. er,... car.
93rdcurrent 12-09-2003, 04:24 PM Maybe that's why there is so much bitching about the RX-8 on this sight. No one wants to share the glory... I bet I have you beat. I am pretty sure that I have the only (non-dealer owned) RX-8 in my area. I have only seen one 8 driving around besides mine and it had dealer plates. So for now I am basking in all the glory. But with all the advertising that Mazda is doing on the Speed Channel and on Spike TV I'm sure that my time is limited. It is winter up here though and maybe no one will buy their 8's until spring. Then maybe we can get a club going and take some fun trips.
Outlaws eXtreme 12-09-2003, 04:30 PM Not to devalue the 8, but a 30k car isn't all that to be super gloating about. Maybe it's because where I go to, I see Ferrari's, Lambos, SL500s, XJRs, etc etc... The OC.
Racer X-8 12-09-2003, 05:17 PM Just for that, I'm not gonna let you ride in mine. :p
I only saw one - total. And that one was in florida.

so true
but right now I see more of those than rx8's
moRotorMotor 12-09-2003, 05:31 PM I'm not sure about other areas, but the only way my dealer gets another RX-8 is if the person makes a deposit first or the dealer orders 10-15 other cars (ie. MPV, Protege, 6, Tribute....which is highly unlikely) :) so I am safe from seeing another 8 for a while :P

Hehehe, it's ok I own an RX-8 already. I can ride in my own. The one good thing about it is that when I go to the bookstore, I see people reading about import cars, drooling over the 8, and I'm sitting there quietly knowing that I own that car. That's one of the reasons I never put a poster of cars on my wall... why would I want to dream about someone ELSE'S car. :)
Hayseed 12-09-2003, 07:29 PM I still haven't seen one. And it's not like I'm in the back woods. I'm in Boston. Granted, 20+ inches of snow is not going to make people rush out to buy RWD. Still, don't you think it's strange that I haven't seen a single one? And I keep looking!
Racer X-8 12-09-2003, 07:36 PM Oh, ok. Never mind then, Mr. Extreme. ;)
That's what's so crazy about the 8. It's a 30k car & it gets the attention of an exotic. My co-workers talk about me owning one like I really am showing off how much money I have, like I'm really playing richie rich. It's not much more expensive than your average non-pos new car. That matter of fact just won't sink-in. People keep talking about it like it's a really big deal that I got it. I never got that when I bought a new accord, or a new conversion van, or a new celica. Well, maybe just a little.
i just spent the last week on teh road. left here (charlotte nc) and drove up through WV, VA, PA, NJ, NY, CT, then came back down along 95. After a WEEK of driving around, yeh only other 8 i have ever seen is here in Charlotte!
If you're reading this...nice car ;) I'm the titanium you pass on hwy 51.
p.s. rx-8's suck bad! please, dont even waste your time test driving! <evil grin>

I agree totally that it sure catches people's attention more than the average joe schmoe 30k car... for instance my friends new IS300 is just blah, or whatevers. Though I'd have to say the only other car I was optioning for was a BMW 330 series... but that too is too common and simple.
RX-GR8 12-09-2003, 09:28 PM i have only seen 1 other 8. in the parking lot where i work of all places and it's a red 1 like mine.
I've seen 4 8's the last 5 days....3 more than I saw the previous 3 weeks
moogle 12-10-2003, 12:58 AM I don't know about the rest of the state but in california..."my neighborhood especially" the rx-8 is as common as the Z now. Their not like flies like the civic where you c them everywhere but you see them @round 5 a day. By the way O.C is coo and all but they overhype that dam show. Chino and riverside is not wack. I live up chino hills and houses here are a 1mil and above.
