powder coating them will look pretty good.

ps. if you're going to use my photo of newcastle's car for your profile picture, you should ask us both permission. in which case, it's not cool with me.

Metallic Flat Gun Powder Black..... coz I have that on my Sunlight Silver. :)
Check Wheels, Tires & Break forums, many people DIY paint their rims.

but what i am planning to do is to paint calipers red paint wheels black, and get those red wheel nuts i think it will look sick. awww i see. but why red? it reminds me of the honda boys who paint their calipers red to mimic Brembo's. but if that is the look you are looking for then, guess black would be your best bet. keep us updated.

even on the car with aftermarket calipers, the rear brakes will be exactly the same size.

Don't paint the calipers red, powder coat the wheels red.

Mm do it! looks good but it takes a lot of time lol. I was planning on doing mines but then it would take around 7 hrs and u need to be good at spray painting and i suck at that haha :X. If ur to cheap for aftermarket rims go for it! :)

how exactly does one go about powdercoating the rims?
what exactly must be done...tools needed n what not?

in short:
you have to sandblast the stock rims
apply the color powder of your choice with a special electrostatic gun
bake it in oven

in conclusion:
find a shop that does this specifically

lokaldisruption

sounds expensive..how much that run?

depends on the shop and quality of powder coating they do
it could cost between $60-$135 or so per rim

for me it would cost $40 per rim, as I have some connections ;)

still cheaper than buying new rims

how's the quality? sometimes the lower end prices yield a cheaper product

I have searched but is there a thread with all the different colored or powder coated rims?

A patient of mine works for a company that does this and I would like to have my stockers done for track duty and I would like to find a cool color. Ever thread I find has someone bitching about searching. He said I just have to give him a paint code so he can match it.
I was thinking the color of the new IS250 wheels woudl look good on a VR.

Why not paint em? Powdercoating is nice and all but if you do the work properly, painted wheels can provide a reliable and attractive finish.

He has not logged in since July 2004 and it is a pic he took of someone's car.

Here is the thread. Not much info but he does list the color he thinks it is.

Gunmetal is the way to go. Looks nice and still not too crazy. I like. There's someone with a WWP who did his wheels in gunmetal and it turned out great.

Do it!
