May I know what painting method did you use on your rims. They looks almost like anodized! cheers canzoomer 12-11-2003, 02:10 AM Stripped of the old powdercoat, polished, then new transparent epoxy powder coat that has a transparent colour. They were inexpensive, and work well for me. Cost was $130 Canadian per wheel ( about $99 US) The Nokian tires grip really well on ice. Cheers mate, now I'll have to check out if we've catch-up with this new epoxy powder coating technic. TreknMazda 12-13-2003, 03:24 PM Here is my winter wheel/tire combo. RX8on19s 12-18-2003, 08:20 PM Here are mY Wheels RX8on19s 12-18-2003, 08:24 PM Wheel Specs: Make: ADR M-Sports Size: 19" Stagerd 8.5 in the front & 9.5 in the back Tire: 245/35/19 in the front & 275/30/19 in the back It rides great......... M-ster 12-18-2003, 09:10 PM A ignorance question for RX8on19s: Why did you run /30/ in the back? Is it because 275/ doesn't come with /35/ (which is similar to your front)? Does this means your rear is seating slightly lower than the front. Cheers iamcanadian 12-19-2003, 02:26 AM RX8on19s those are definitely the wheels I would choose. That looks freakin' sweet dude! canzoomer 12-19-2003, 03:00 AM Originally posted by hasg How much would it cost to chrome the stock 18's ? No idea. I would not do it. Here is why: Chrome adds heavy metal. Adds about 2 lbs per wheel. Chrome can not be fixed or refinished if damaged XeRo 12-19-2003, 07:47 AM Originally posted by canzoomer No idea. I would not do it. (Chris Tucker voice)...RX8on19s those kick ass.!!! good pick!!...I like!!! canzoomer 12-19-2003, 05:10 PM Originally posted by XeRo #3 It looks UGLY!!! In some cases, perhaps. I know on a big-ass 4x4 pickup it can look pretty cool on those 20" rims and knobby tires. On an RX-8 it is a matter of personal taste. I just do not like chrome on something that is easily scraped up or nicked. Once the chrome is blemished you are basically out of options. Besides, on an 8 about the only bright chrome items are the badges, so it kind of looks out of place, at least to my eye. But what do i know? Aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder. 5150 8 12-25-2003, 11:23 PM Not the best image quality. 18x8Front 18x9Rear Stern/Work 3pc http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/pc6de5083ef81e9115e4adeaa737967c1/fa318ea6.jpg [IMG]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/p85aed08ddc0cc454b26f2c5985fba49c/fa329623.jpg http://http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/p419ed1c44d6d48a92821676b225aaefb/fa32a901.jpg canzoomer 12-26-2003, 02:02 AM I really like those. RX8on19s 12-29-2003, 07:38 AM Positron, Why would you put 17" rims if the car already comes with 18"? M-ster 12-29-2003, 08:41 AM Originally posted by RX8on19s Positron, Why would you put 17" rims if the car already comes with 18"? He got an AT, so, he's probably already up 1 size. Positron 12-29-2003, 09:14 AM Yup, I've got an AT with the GT package so it came with 18 inch wheels. I put the 17 inch rims on because I could only find 17 inch snows by mid-December. Also, slightly narrower snow tires do a bit better than 18s and I decided I would rather not be switching tires on and off the 18 inch stock rims twice a year. Most of the trades between 17 and 18 inch snows have been discussed extensively in this forum. Gord96BRG 12-29-2003, 01:25 PM Originally posted by RX8on19s Positron, Why would you put 17" rims if the car already comes with 18"? Winter tires. Narrower is better for winter performance (snow/ice); 17s are lighter and cheaper than 18s, for both the wheels and tires. Better performance, less expensive. I wish you would take some better angles to show them off. I just worry about the performance, weight and noise characteristics. My stock 18 rims and rubber are getting percievably louder after putting approx 9k miles on them thus far. RX8on19s, how much does each rim weigh. I don't want to sacriface dead weight for looks but like I said those things look awesome. |
