So I chose Southwest to fly yesterday to Oakland to see the Patriots give a richly deserved ass whooping on the Raiders. Had an 8:10 morning flight. The plane got to the runway and then had to return to the gate with some mechanical problems. We were given regular updates as to the status of the repairs, but a little over an hour goes by and its clear its going to take a while.

Now keep in mind that SW flies SAN-OAK about every 75 minutes and it was early enough for a 1:15 game time that I could be patient if I needed to. Well the 9:30 flight was empty enough to accomodate about 30 people from my flight who didn't have checked backage. About 1/2 the passengers as it so happened. You would think this is a no-brainer for me as I didn't have anything with me.

Well heres the rub. The original flight had THE HOTTEST FLIGHT ATTENDANT EVER on it. And now that the 737 had about 30 passengers on it, when it got in the air, there would be plenty of unoccupied space for things to happen such as making time with said hottest flight attendant.

So what did I do? I wussed out on the side of caution and switched planes worried about getting to the game on time (not realizing it was a 5 minute bus ride from the airport). Damn damn damn damn.

So why was the experience so bad (other than the new flight not having the hottie)? I got stuck next to two Raiders fans who didn't quite understand the concept of when you have a 3-11 team, you should STFU when it comes to raggin on the defending AFC Champions.

I may have to purchase another RT flight to Oakland on a Sunday morning at the same time in the hopes she does that route regularly.....

I had a flight on Southwest from KC to OHare. A 1 1/2 hr flight, it was suppose to be. Take off from KC was fine. But, OHare was fogged in. We find out later that the radio altimeter was broke and the plane was flying with the standard pressure altimeter. This wasn't accurate enough to land in the fog. The pilot circled a long time waiting for a clearing and took a few approaches to the runway with out any luck. We were diverted to Indianapolis. This while my wife was waiting in the parking lot to pick me up. When we land in Indy, I phone my wife and tell her I landed, but don't try to pick me up. I'll call back when I get to Chicago. In Indy they decided they are going to switch planes to one that works. I get into OHare at 2:30 AM. The trip that was suppose to be 1.5 hrs was 6 hrs.

That is why unless under dire circumstances I dont FLY!
