How durable is spray painting rims?

I though about doing this myself but didnt want it to turn out like a backyard job, is it worth doing or is it worth the 200-500 bucks to have them powdercoated?

Its all about prep work, if you do it right it will last you longer than you think. Rocks and other crap will tear up just about any finish after time. If you are confident with your tagging abilities, $60 worth of supplies and a weekend of your time is worth it IMO.

On the other hand I think powdercoating is worth it too. A local place quoted me $80 per wheel.

I just had mine done. If you search around you can find a good deal. A place close to home was wanting to charge 100 per wheel but I drove a little over an hour and had them done for 175 total. That was including sandblasting. Then I payed 100 to have the rims and tires took off, put back on, and rebalanced. So I payed 275 total to have it done.

You gotta learn how to search through forums first before learn how to paint your rims.

My dusty rim....
