Well after 88,000 miles I decided to sell my RX-8. I had many good times with my car and many not so good times. I found this forum to be a great source of information, and was glad to be a part of it. I will miss the meets, although it has been a while since I have gone to one. Good luck to everyone and their cars. I will be over at the Audi World Forums.

The TT is nice but it will never handle like the 8. Although I do like it very much so I am not putting it down by any means. I wish you luck with it. Only thing I dont like about the TT is its not rwd hehe.

Maybe he just wanted something different sheesh. Unless its like an M3 or something half the people on here just bash you.

I don't think I'll even bother posting my new car whenever I sell my 8.

Congrats on your new ride, beautiful car, and I hope you enjoy it.

he wasnt bashed :uhh:

2 people made a reference to the fact that its an overpriced GTi (which is true) but no one really insulted him......

Back on topic, how much did they give you for trade, Im curious?

I sold my 2004 RX-8 GT for $10,500. The TT is far from a 2x priced GTI, although they share the same engine. Have you priced a loaded GTI? I have driven the GTI, not what I wanted. I paid 31k for the TT; it is CPO and had 6200 miles on it when I bought it. I am not going to track the car, it is fun to drive ask brillo he has driven it. I was just being nice and thanking everyone for the info and help I received here while I had my RX-8 and this thread gets turned in to a why did you buy that car thread. I bought it because it is what I wanted to buy. I would be happy to buy anything you wanted me to buy if you would be so nice to write the check for it.

Congrats. The TT mkII is a nice car. I like it alot. Is it FWD or Quattro? Did you consider the 135i as well? While the TT will not have the handling dynamics as the RX-8, I think if you don't exploit it in the first place, you will not miss it.

congrats on the TT. for 31k I may have waited for a 370 or test drove the 09 WRX now with 261hp and I just read car and driver ripped off a 4.7 to 60mph and 1/4mi in 13.5 at 105. thats faster than the STi, they figure the 5 speeds gearing helped out vs. the 6 speed in the STi. The spring rates are up 40% as well.

No kidding. I own a GTI and am just saying the TT is overpriced.

It's a nice car though. The little 4 banger turbo is so easy and cheap to chip.

Congrats - TT is nice - enjoy. As far as the "overpriced GTi" stuff which is f-in ignorant and always annoying to here - there is one huge obvious difference (among many) that stands out and that is clearly looks - which is probably a lot of the appeal of the TT.

And the RX-8 isn't a chick car? As far as I know the RX-8 is more of a chick car than the TT. But heck, i don't feel bad about driving a chick car. I'm grown up enough to drive the car I like whether it is a chick car or not.

My dad has an A3 2.0T with the DSG box - it's a really great engine too...

Sharing chassis, drive train, transmission (DSG), and engine isn't ignorant. Even C&D calls it a fancy GTI.

No shit. I understand your point but my key point was it looks nothing like a GTI. Not every one wants a boxed-shaped or economy-looking car (in reference to the perception of what an economy car looks likes like to the average American) and clearly won't pass up the TT because they think they are buying a "over priced GTI" - not to mention the exclusivity of an Audi nameplate. The Audi TT from the get go was known for it's trend-setting looks inside and out and I think this is still a huge part of the reason it sells. You think most people willing to drop the money on a TT would pass it up to get a performance version of what looks to them like a $15k VW Rabbit. Doubtful. Unless VW drops the Audi TT body and interior on the Rabbit/Golf/GTI then sells it as a GTI for half the price of the TT then the statement will always be ignorant.

Good lord, chill out. I said my statement to the guy with a wink, meaning I was messin around. You know? Joking? But he got it used anyway so it's a moot point. Haha it never ceases to amaze me how uptight some people can get on a message board.

I have a huge eclectic taste in cars and my opinions on them, especially ones I own, aren't ignorant.

For a FWD vehicle, its pretty incredible. I know its not RWD, but thats not a reason to start hating on his choice. We all buy cars for different reasons and sometimes those needs change. I love how some people turn a thank you post into a bash thread.

PerSmitt

Is it the FWD or the 4WD model? Because if it is 4WD it has no similarity with the GTI drivingwise.
