Your nott going to gain any HP to speak (3-5) of in an exhaust system. Only thing for sure you'll gain is lighter weight. So if you put two pipes on the car what would that do? Add weight. Stick with a proven Cat-Back Exhaust system. And there is a "Sticky" on the very subject. 04RX8man 12-06-2008, 05:25 PM yeah stick with a proven one i personally think that our ass of the car is meant to a dual pipees so it should and would not loook good with one but to all their own!!! I8U 12-06-2008, 06:10 PM The ass of the car looks just fine with a single 3" HKS exhaust... RXallan 12-06-2008, 06:14 PM triple   mysql 12-06-2008, 06:17 PM single tip exhaust looks odd when the rear bumper has two exhaust openings. If we had an alternative bumper, then a single sided might not look so odd. I8U 12-06-2008, 06:23 PM To each his own... dozer 12-06-2008, 06:29 PM id go with single...although both look soooo sexy, IMHO the single side HKS looks DAMN GOOD, and the sound is SOO sexy.... mysql 12-06-2008, 06:34 PM To me the HKS single tip looks like a coffee can bolted onto the exhaust. You can clearly SEE the two bolts that hold it on. The Ti tip also changes color over time, so it doesn't have the nice clean uniform look to it. At least it didn't for me after a month of usage. 04RX8man 12-06-2008, 06:54 PM yeah with a different rear bumper a single would prob look good in my opinion CyberPitz 12-06-2008, 07:38 PM I'm a dual kind of guy. kersh4w 12-06-2008, 09:22 PM Before you get flamed,, One pipe is sufficient. Your nott going to gain any HP to speak (3-5) of in an exhaust system. an "exhaust system" will get you 15+whp. note that an "exhaust system" is header+midpipe+catback. wording is slightly important here. a catback only might net you 3-5whp. the real difference is: single weighs less. looks retarded. dual weighs more. looks good. I8U 12-06-2008, 09:28 PM Ouch kersh...this car should have never come with dual tips. The single tip always looked sexy on the RX7, Mazda should have kept it the same. CyberPitz 12-07-2008, 10:43 AM 1st Gen RX-7 looked good with a single.. 2nd gen looked good with a dual 3rd gen looked good with a single Now the RX-8 looks good with the dual. I think they are playing mind games. XDEEDUBBX 12-07-2008, 11:03 AM you guys are all fools, the RX8 has no exhaust PSTNLSS 12-07-2008, 11:09 AM you guys are all fools, the RX8 has no exhaust then what makes my cupholder so dam hot? I8U 12-07-2008, 11:21 AM ^That would be a combo of transmission temps and the exhaust. DOMINION 12-07-2008, 12:03 PM Dual exhaust FTW! as for the cup holder being so dam hot, now that I have no cat I can tell my cup holder is no longer a cup warmer lol kersh4w 12-07-2008, 01:04 PM Ouch kersh...this car should have never come with dual tips. The single tip always looked sexy on the RX7, Mazda should have kept it the same. and i fully understand that. but since there are 2 openings, it looks silly with a pipe in one and one empty. if mazda had designed the rx8 as a single, i'd have no problem with it. or if someone put a body kit on the car that was single only, i'd have no problem with it. but having openings for 2 tips and only 1 tip... that just looks weird. (btw, the body kit i'll eventually get, buddy club, would not look stupid with only 1 tip. i believe its the only rx8 kit that does this.) http://www.access-direct.com.au/images/prod_image_25.jpg PBlue 12-08-2008, 06:43 AM if the single tip came out the rotor in the rear, i'd have been all for that. then lose the plastic and smooth out the rear... but haven't seen a body kit/ exhaust combo that does that. 416to212 12-08-2008, 10:42 AM I've been thinking about this a lot too. Dual or Single. I'm too vain to go single and I always think two holes are much more fun. Even Mr. Norris would agree. http://media.ebaumsworld.com/picture/hippyjump50/ChuckNorrisShocker001.JPG HKS does, however, give me the chills when I hear it. Renesis07 12-08-2008, 10:42 AM want to do my exhaust 1. is one pipe better than 2 2. if one is better will it be louder with more power both arent going to give you shit for power and cost you money so pick whichever you like better. |
