Brake Squeak

I just recently, about 3 weeks ago, got the new MAZDASPEED Brake pads on my front and back. 3 days after there were installed my brakes began to squeak and have been since.

Could there be any reasons as to why they would be???

Any suggestions help

Thanks!

They are more performance oriented, high temperature pads, so it's normal that they squeak when cold or wet.

When you installed the pads, did you install the shims and/or put some anti-squeal goo between the pads and the calipers? (sorry, don't know if the Mazdaspeed pads come with shims)

Also, check the metal clips are installed.

Also, did you grease the caliper slides.

ok. as long as it is normal than thats ok. i just don't like the feeling of driving down the road and hearing them squeak as i slow down next to people.

kinda awkward haha

Although they weren't MS pads, I recently bought an RX-8 that had brand new pads and rotors and they squeaked like hell. Did a search and found this link in a thread...it's about "bedding" the brakes.

http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

I did this and they haven't squeaked since, except when very cold or very wet.

Might not work, but it's worth a shot.

Yes please bed your brakes, but don't tell your girl friend.

Some brake pad brands are more prone to squeaking than others but as mentioned above proper bedding in of the pads plus using the OEM shims plus synthetic high temp brake grease on the back of the pads and between the shims almost always reduces or eliminates squealing. My guess is that the dealer left off the shims and didn't grease them, and that combined with not bedding them in and being a performance/street pads got you squealing.
