View Full Version : Navigation Tray translation...
RX-8 Pimpin' 12-07-2003, 03:32 PM I recently recieved the Navigation tray from Canzoomer (Thanks again!), but the instructions for installation is in Japanese (of course). Does anyone know of a website that has the instructions so than I can use Babelfish to translate? I've searched with google but turned up nothing. No one around my area will install it without English instructions. :( Any help would be great. Thanx.
RotorMotor 12-19-2003, 03:13 PM Hey Pimpin'. Any luck with this? Did you end up getting your install done? If so, car to post a how-to (in English :D)?
RX-8 Pimpin' 12-19-2003, 08:55 PM Well, i have not been able to get the manual translated yet but i finally found a local stereo shop that would be able to do it. It will take a couple of days, according to them, so I will have to remove the panel and drop it off.It will be after X-mas till I do it so I will let everyone know and see the final results.
8_wannabe 12-25-2003, 05:49 PM Get us some pix after it's done.
RotorMotor 01-07-2004, 03:16 PM Bump!!!
Did you get your tray installed Pimpin'. Pics? Instructions? Anything??? :D
RX-8 Pimpin' 01-07-2004, 07:49 PM Sorry, haven't had any time nor $$ to tackle on this project. I'm in the process of selling an item or two on eBay which should allow me to buy the lcd I need. I'd hate to install the tray and having nothing in it for a while. Although it could make for a nifty cell phone holder while I wait for the lcd.....hmmm... I'll post pics when it is installed like I promised.
RotorMotor 01-08-2004, 10:02 AM I took the instructions down to a translation service yesterday. They charge 27 cents per English word and a minimum of $145.
I think I may go your route and try to find a stereo shop that can do it....
OverLOAD 01-10-2004, 08:03 PM Here's my rundown on the installation instructions. (I got one of these too)
1. Remove Head unit. (alrady documented)
2. Unscrew above head unit, and remove the top tray
3. Take the template from the last page and find a good position where the cut-out will fit (maybe the marker holes on the template match the underside of the cover?), and trace the line on with a felt pen.
4. Cut
5. Tape, screw, and place foam where it fits most logically (fits like an easy jigsaw puzzle)
6. Reassamble.
Possibly steps left out, but that doesn't bother me, I plan on doing it without any further info, since I've got a good relative position on the cutout from the picture of the installation.
I havn't done it yet, since my car is Garaged till spring, and I have plenty of time to do it.
Regards,

RX-8 Pimpin' 08-21-2004, 07:35 AM Well after after 8 months I finally got around to having the tray installed at a local car audio shop. I will be going by in a couple of hours to pick the panel up and will post pics of it. I don't get my screen in until Monday but I'll post pics of the tray anyways.
Charles.
RX-8 Pimpin' 08-21-2004, 11:43 AM Here is the link to the pictures of it finished and installed:

jniamehr 08-21-2004, 11:50 AM Thats very nice, can you provide a link to some sites that I can purchase that?
Also, how is the reach to the screen, in your estimation, can we put a touch screen there? It may be perfect for a carputer, if its within reaching distance.
Is it available in a 1 din slot adaptation?
RX-8 Pimpin' 08-21-2004, 05:35 PM At first when I dropped the piece off I worried about how it wouldn't look right. I was very relieved to see that it didn't look too bad. I purchased the tray from Canzoomer, here's the link: Dashboard Nav Tray (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=15088&highlight=navigation+tray)
The tray is within an arms reach and perfect for a touch screen appplication. In fact that's exactly my plans for it. I'm putting in my touch screen 7" XGA LCD in on Monday and then the Mini-ITX computer in on Friday. The tray isn't in a DIN slot but R Magic makes a DIN slot: 2-Gauge Pod & 1-DIN Pod by R-Magic (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=25612&highlight=DIN)
jniamehr 08-21-2004, 06:13 PM The picture he include is a pioneer, 1 din, its not the same tray correct?
RX-8 Pimpin' 08-22-2004, 03:15 AM The pic with the pioneer is just the screen, not a DIN. Mine is that tray. It will only hold the screen itself, not a whole DIN unit.
