Advanced Key system w'security

Old batt was OK, just weak on cold start

Changed batteries to a new one......

On ACC the RED KEY light keeps flashing
It let's me turn the key to the START position but no GREEN KEY light and no ignition. No click, no sound, nothing. It DOESN't lock me out from the START position as if it didn't see the Advanced Key.

The key will allow the doors to lock and unlock via the button.
The key can lock and unlock the car

We tried the 2nd Advanced Key...it's a no-go as well.
Lastly we tried the manual/actual metal key...no go!

Ideas? I called Mazda and they said a battery swap should not trigger the need for reprogramming. They are really lost because the manual key will not start the car either. Everything else works perfectly!

IDEAS? It's been towed. :banghead:

This is not the first time I've heard of this (no voltage, security module 'forgets'). The dealer has to plug the car in to their computer... Although, there's never any word about what really went wrong.

ps. They used to sell a thing to plug into your cigar lighter that had a battery to keep your radio stations, etc. Maybe we need this on battery changes.

Sure makes sense. I'm just freaked out that the actual key won't start it! God I can imagine being stranded due to a bad battery cable, connection, etc. Freaky!

yeah most likely some special computer activated switch that needs to be turned on or something....new cars now adays they are a little too picky about stuff like this

Thats probably one of the reasons why I prefer NOT to get any of those keyless entry/start.

Security System/starter relay died during the battery change. Back on the street. Weird, huh?
