Got my springs installed

So I took the 8 to install some lowering springs, took it to a shop near my job, I dont think they preloaded like I told them to. Anywho, Can I preload while the car is on the ground? I just need to unscrew a bit right? And then drive it around and tighten it back? Or do I need to jack up the car and unscrew the top screws and lower it and drive it around then retighten it?

It's the 2 bolts on the arm... I still have to preload but I was going to wait a little bit for the springs to settle. Just loosen the bolts a little (keeping them threaded) and drive over some speed bumps, then tighten them back up

So how long should I wait to do this? I already put 60 miles on the car. Also I just want to make sure I do the right bolts, any one has pics of which ones?

So you just losen the bolt on the right, drive around, and then tighten it. I don't think mine are preloaded correctly as I have seen others with the same springs that seem lower.

Its both of the bolts that are on the upper A-arm. Its quite simple to do, just turn wheels all the way left and you can reach 2 of the bolts (1 on either side). Then turn them all the way to the right to get the other 2.

After that just drive around a little and then tighten them back up. You will see a very noticeable difference in drop if they haven't been preloaded before.

Also, its a 17mm bolt.

I do it from time to time so they settle right.

Worked like a charm. Mine were not preloaded. Thats what I get for being lazy and paying someone else to do it.

you don't have to drive around! Hell, I don't even think that's very safe if you loosen them too much.

Loosen said bolts on both sides, let car sit for 10 minutes, tighten bolts. all done

Tighten on the ground! The reason that you have this problem in the first place is because they were tightened on the jack.

All you need to do is loosen BOTH of the 17mm on one side of the car and then retighten them. Your goal is to get rid of any stiction. This typically occurs when you tighten the upper A arm bolts with the suspension in full droop. Basically when the suspension hangs down and you tighten these bolts and then the car is lowered to the ground, the bushings become pre-loaded (which you don't want).

While your down there, take a look around to see if you're ABS lines and brake lines are not rubbing on anything.

yeah just loosen up the bolts on the upper control arm let is settle for a few minutes and tighten while weight is on the vehicle....no driving is needed....idk where everyone thinks driving with suspension components loose is a good idea
