I've been searching everywhere and no one has put up a list of working Xgauge codes that have been tested for the Rx-8. Im going to start working on the basic codes from the website and hopefully some other owners will help out. I also read that some users are using the Subaru codes. Hope this helps everyone.

So far:
Horsepower works (dont know how accurate it is)
o2 Sensor Data from CANxxx list works (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

From the Ford CAN list Transmission Fluid Temp (Does not work)

Will add more when I have time to test them.

Had the chance to try out a few more last night during my lunch break.

Ford CAN list:
Barometric Pressure
Fuel Level

Does Not Work

For the CANxxx list:
Short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim (Bank 1) Works!

Ok after endless reading through the thread posted above here is the info I found.

There is no oil temp sensor so that is out.

There was mention of an EGT gauge that would be allsum but no word yet on that.

You are saying the o2 sensor is working with canscan? what's the code for that?

I have short term fuel trim, long term fuel trim. hp one works but the numbers are worthless. I saw 400 hp the other day at partial throttle.

from my toying with the Scangauge stuff a few months back....

1)like mysql said, HP will give you a useless inaccurate number.

2)the O2 sensor does display data, but its not in lambda or afr. it displays on a 0-100 scale(although you'll never see either extreme), and the scale is NOT linear.
I did quite a bit of reading into the SAE papers on the OBD/CAN protocols back then trying to find something like a simple multiplier i could add into the Xgauge to make it display something useful like lambda/afr, but being a non-linear scale it should be impossible to get something useful out of the scangauge for the O2 sensors

accessport can display proper afr numbers. You just mean that the xgauge won't do the math to show the proper info?

exactly. the Xgauge math functions ONLY include addition, subtraction, multiply, and divide in the simplest of forms. So if you start with a non-linear output, there is no way to multiply, divide, add, or subtract to reach a linear output :(

Hymee lended me a huge helping hand by showing me where to look for the information i was interested in. But what i found is why i stopped playing with the scangauge. It can read anything on the CANbus, but without the ability to work in logarithms it cannot display much of the informaion we were interested in finding. A couple of the things, iirc, that i(we) were hoping to pull out of the SGII were EGT/cattemp and AFR/Lambda. That data is on the bus, you just cant display it in any truly understandable fashion, unless you think in logarithms/exponentials

How would the cat temp/egt not be linear? Wouldnt it be the same math as water temp or air temp just with a different sensor input?

ah you may be correct, i havent gone back to look at what i found in the other thread, and i am working off memory. egt/cet temp may indeed be linear, it would actually make sense. I do know for sure though that O2 data is not.

I've already mailed them my scangauge once for a firmware update. Doing some simple math calculations seems within reason as a possibility for future upgrade

that'd be nice :) but a day late for me. I'll have boost/vac, afr, oil press, water temp nexus gauges next time i drive the car so...

I have been searching other forums for info on codes but to no avail. I just spent 30 min on a mustang forum ::I feel so dirty now:: If you need me I will be in the shower with Clorox and an SOS pad.

I thought of another interesting xgauge I would like though. Radiator fan speed.

i dont recall for sure, but i'm thinking that oil pressure is not floating around in our CAN bus. An AFR gauge in your previous car displayed similar 0-100 type data that you scangauge reports for O2 sensor in the RX-8?? A true wideband AFR gauge will display either air fuel ratio(roughly 10.0-20ish) or in lambda which will look more like 0.85-1.2 or roughly.

cat temp sensor is another one that I would like to see.

I had that with the canscan, but don't have it from scangauge or accessport.

you're on the right track. after looking at it again, the wiki article tells you pretty much everything you need to figure out how to query for cat temp. good job! :)

Just tried the MAF xgauge and it works great. Idle is around 78 g/sec. I think that is grams/sec from what I have read. That's a weird unit of measurement for air flow.

g/s is a standard unit for mass airflow. but 78 is not even close to accurate at idle. possible that your actually flowing 7.8g/s at idle and the math function is just wrong?? i've seen cars idle damn near perfect to total crap and have seen 5g/s to about 8g/s.

Yeah I got to drive my car off base (military) and the number was jumping all over the place once I got past 30mph. I will look into it there was more than one math function for it.

Off some uk site for a vx22:

I tried the AFR yesterday when I took the car for a spin. From what I see on the display I am guessing this a calculated AFR that the ECU made up. If you look at the programming codes, you see that there are no maths aplied to the number on the display. When starting the car it displays:

147

Which sounds like a VERY familiar number if you assume this decimal and divide it by 10 : )

yes, cat temp works awesome.

the numbers are a bit different:



is actually:

1st param: 07e0013c
2nd param:0441053c0000
3rd param: 2810
4th param: 0001000affd8

cause there's 4 screens not 3.

cat temp is listed at 850-950 F range when I drove around this morning.

About time to resurrect this.

Did anyone ever get the Auto Trans Temp? MAP? working. Never read a yay or nay on them.
