squeaky brakes

squeaky brakes

I have a squeaky brake don't know which one, but is there something I can do to help this? Thanks

If you remove the brake pads and grease the BACKS of the pads and in the front and backs of the shims (the shims are on the back of the pad backing plate between the pad and the piston) and the top and bottoms of the pad backing plate with high temperature synthetic brake grease it will usually stop pad squealing. Make sure that the pad wear indicators aren't causing the squeal which would indicate a pad worn below minimum thickness.

It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway, don't get any grease on the face of the pad that touches the rotor. Also, always a good idea to clean the rotor face with brake cleaner when you are done. Basic automotive 101 type stuff.
