for those of you with the Japanese spec, JDM, rx8 and are limited to 180kph.


the HKS SLD typeIII z3 works fine. it only takes 30 minutes to install, but when it activates at 180kph, it switches of the cars DSC system.

I would be really interested to see how this device actually works.
That wiring diagram shows it to be spliced into the CAN bus, intercepting it before the PCM (and not into the speed sensor wires as the PDF indicates).

MM, you should see the way HKS tap into GT-R's computer with their VAC.

i am no expert on which part of the ecu bus etc, but the diagram was supplied by HKS europe. and it works.

Those are pins 4V and 4S, which are CAN_H and CAN_L.

You are better off spending a little more money and buying Hymee Scanalyzer Pro Tuner or Cobb AP (not sure if they support JDM yet). You'll be able to remove speed limiter and control a lot of other things by programming the ECU.

i considered the Cobb as it has a few other useful features, but apparently it doesnt work with jap spec cars. and i only want to remove the speed limit. ( at the moment)

Contact Hymee for Scanalyzer Pro Tuner. Works on Japanese domestic model RX-8s like a charm.

i have no idea why this works the way it does, but it does:)

there no noticible effect as you hit 180kph, there are no CELs and the dsc doesnt seem to deactivate as HKS said it would. well, the light doesnt come on anyway.

shame really, as i think i might be removing it and opting for the AP when you are able to supply them.

if you can pay 500 euro is better to purchase an access port from mazdamaniac and he can remove the speed limiter + you tune your rx8 for better performance and reliability.

the accessport works on european rx8s.

there have been quite a few turbocharged rx8s running the accessport.
