I did a search for these but didnt come up with a satisfying answer. Does anyone know if they have any RC RX8's available, not just in the xmen blue and yellow? I recently discovered the world of the RC hobbies, and it looks so fun. It would be nice to have an exact replica of my 8, but I couldnt find any RX8 bodies. I assume I could just wait until more people make them, but are there any out now? I did a google search and didnt come up with much either. Thanks

When it comes to exact replica of a vehicle, it has to be Tamiya. No other R/C manufacturer receives more praise than it does. The only downside is that Tamiya cars are expensive and it's really the body you are paying for. Just do a search for "Tamiya" you won't be disapointed in the astonishing detail

No problem alphapenguin. I've been keeping my eye out for any radio controlled RX-8 cars ever since I received my car back in October! Are you into actual R/C cars, or just Radio Shack/Wal-Mart R/C cars? The reason I ask is because the prices vary so much between the two categories, it's scary lol

well I would like to get into actual R/C cars, and I am definetly a Novice. I know the price is huge, but I need to do more reasearch on the stuff. It just seems like fun:-D

Have you guys seen these Jada Radio Controlled Import Racers? They're 1:10 scale and come in red or white. I have a red one on order. If you can get past the riciness, these are supposed to be really good radio-controlled cars.

I have also been looking for bodyshells for my TL-O1LA, preferably Tamiya, due to there excellent detail. I will let you all know if my search is successful. Those toy 8s and other car slook to be quite good. From the little video they seen to be quite fast.

I plan to go with Tamiya. I am a detail freak and 2nd best don't cut it for me lol. Later on I plan to get nitro one from HPI (when it comes out) for fooling around and stuff because Tamiya just arent fast enough without moding it extensively. Also, Nitro are more dirty so I'll have my electric Tamiya for mainly display purposes. I will let you know now that HPI bodies have their own way of desiging bodies and aren't to scale, but it does have its own qualities because of the "curves".

What a coincidence, I dreamed about this last night and in my dream I build a small scale rotary engine myself to place it in the R/C car. I'm not an engineer, can't pull something like that off but wouldn't that be great? A 1:8 scale, 22cc renesis RX-8 ;)

I used build model planes with 3.5cc engines (1.4HP, 26000RPM), I have great experiences when it comes to the technical aspect and pulling it off. RC cars interest me, probably the next hobby I'm gonna pick up when money is flowing again ;)

O.S (model engine manufacturer) has a rotary engine out for model airplanes... But in my old R/C mag shows a Rotary engine in a TC(touring car) or MT(monster truck) (can't remember which). Looks pretty cool though... now only if I can find that damn magazine

I mean these from www.toyeast.com. Limited production & different packaging & colors. Their on ebay for $50/ea as well. Try buying those r100, r130, or original cosmo toy models on ebay... pricey!!!

Hi all:

I got in my Jada R/C 8. I couldn't stand all those stickers on it so I removed all of them except the Mazda stickers. Love the "clean" look. Could stand to lose the BAW (big-ass wing), but other than that it looks pretty cool. A 1/2hr work peeling and using goo-gone to get the car nice and clean. Check out some of the pics:

These hobbies are dangerous LOL. I too was an avid RC racer in my younger days and have tons of 1/12 scale RC equipment lying around my mom's house, unless she threw it out.

I just ordered a 1/18 scale Auto Art diecast...but that thing doesn't move like an RC does :(

Let us know how that Jada RC works out...it may be enough to quench my thirst for now, otherwise I feel a big hole in my pocket starting to develop.

I finally got a RX-8 body cover for my RC Nitro touring car. I've been asking various hobby shops since last year for a RX-8 body cover but no luck until HPI released one a few weeks ago. It's be discussed here on the forum with plenty of pictures if you want to SEARCH it. Anyway, I have to say I'm dissapointed that the body didn't quite fit right. The wheel base on my TC3 is slightly longer than the cut outs on the HPI body allow. So either the front or rear wheels would rub the body if the opposite set were set in the middle. It's not way out but I'm not too happy after spending $25 on the body and another $12 for special paint. Anyway, if it says it fits most 200mm nitro touring cars you better check first. The other problem is HPI pre "dimples" the body where the body post are to be drilled so that the body can be attached to the car. But if you follow the HPI templates, it won't match other manufactures cars even though it's a "standard". Yeah right!

I'll post several pictures tonight and perhaps a video (if someone will host it) of this thing screaming down the parking lot at 50mph+

Wow looks great. Almost makes me want get back into RC again. I was seriously considering getting a 1/10 electric touring sedan for the sole purpose of getting the RX-8 body. Can't wait to see the video.

I think the big one goes faster though :p But those nitros do get up to about 60-70mph don't they? What kind of paint is that and where'd you get it? It's a very close match.

The RTRs (Ready to run) are 40 - 50 mph out of the box. With a few simple mods like a two speed transmission, tuned exhaust, etc., you can get to 60mph+ quick enough. Of course, you can get to $1000.00 on a single RC quick enough as well. I hit a curb at full speed so all my RC dollars went for repairs rather than mods. If I could only learn to drive like as well as my kids!

R/C cars are bad...they burn a hole through your wallet faster than a girl can with your credit card on a shopping spree.

I've had my Micro RTR for less than 2 weeks and I've already bought a new radio, 2 new motors, 2 new bodies, new speed controller, and I ended up buying my gf one of her own just so she wouldn't jack mine. Next up...batteries, charger(s), ball differentials, LED light kit, front one-way diff...and god knows what else...expecting to burn another couple of hundred before the end of the month.
