just wondring if anyone has installed a mask yet?where i live we have a lot of rocks being thrown from trucks,etc.lots of dead bugs also.normally i dont like masks(bras)but i feel i can polish out any rubbing that the mask might leave behind but the only way too fix 20 rockchips is too sand and repaint.what do you guys think,any suggestions too keep the mask from damaging the paint?(i did get the mask thrown in with a bottle of touch-up paint for free so pretty happy about that)

Mine should be arriving tomorrow. Decided to get it for my road trip coming up and for the occasional foray into the rush hour beltway traffic. You never know what's going to fly up there.:eek:

Ordered mine last week...and the dang car won't be here for 2-3 weeks yet. I'll probably have it Monday or Tuesday. I'm getting it for the same as you, but primarly for road trips. I don't think I'll put it on unless I'll be doing 200-300 miles on the interstate.

How much does it cost and how hard (and how much time) to take on and off?

I bought the mask right before my 1300-mile roadtrip to TX. Installation took about 10 minutes... you'll need a phillips-head screwdriver and a recommended minimum IQ of 30 for the install. If you saw all the crap the front end had hit by the end of the trip, you'd swear by it too. Clean-up and removal is a cinch.

It was $131.25 at the dealer. Since i don't have the car yet, got no idea how it goes on, but the previous post said phillips screw driver. So it must take a few minutes...worth it in my book for a long trip.

I just had this thought, I heard the car cover was not able to fit with the spoiler on. But what about the bra?


Edit: Sorry I was being lazy, for those who come accross this there is one for with the front air dam and one for without.

No pics yet...no digital camera, film has to be developed. As said before, it's not a difficult installation, but does take a few minutes to install the four snaps in each wheel well. Note that the top positioned snap is really a lot higher up than shown in the instructions. Initially, I thought there were only four holes but there are five. Also, the is one small tab/clip not on the mask but shown in the instructions. It's at the closest corner of the hood/fender line on each side. Taking it off, took all of 1 minute, a lot quicker than putting it on.;)

Just picked up the bra and installed it/put it on. I have to say that Mazda did an excellent job with fit and finish on the bra. It fits snug as can be and really does look nice. I'm still waiting on the rotary accents to come in. Evidently it'll be a few more weeks. I'll take some pictures soon.... I'm lazy.:D

Do you lot have any custom fit car covers for the RX8? All I managed to lay my hands on in Oz is one on the crap fitting Kenco Tyvek jobs.

I'll second that. I've had the bra for a few weeks now. Damn tight fit. Almost too tight. It looks great though. Very well engineered, and it doesn't hurt the image of the 8 like bras do on a lot of other cars. I had a hard time putting it on the first time and I'm certainly not looking forward to taking it off and putting it on every time I have to wash, but what the hell... The things we do for our cars. :D

the bra is great to prevent rock chips but I wouldn't put one on my 8

I have no idea where the rock chips are coming from but I have many, many, many of them along the nose of the car already :mad:. I don't live in a rural area or drive on dirt roads, but I've gotten hit with a bunch, hence the bra. It's almost a necessity to either have the bra or the 3M clear bra IMO.

If you are doing a lot of freeway driving make sure you hang back a couple hundred feet from semis, dumptrucks, etc. The 18-wheelers throw up a lot of small stuff you can't even see but will chip your finish at highway speeds.

Looking closely, I assume you don't have the headlight washers. Hmmm?

The bra looks very good - I'm seriously tempted, but I'd need to know I could disable the washers - it wouldn't do them any good if they were activiated when the bra was on the car.

Nope, no headlight washers. That was only an option on the non-us models. :)

Thanks, the bikes an 02 so it wasn't planned but I do like silver, it hides dirt well and looks great when it's clean. I was out riding all day today and saw that yellow one (RX8) again on CA79 up near Julian. Wish I could figure out who that is.

If I remember correctly, Canzoomer DID locate a fuse that could be removed to disable just the headlight washers. Do a search, should find it no problem.

Probably but I ask WHY?

You have the bra on most of the time, but just using the fuse would be simpler than installing a switch, for the times you drive with the bra off. (which would be seldom IMO)

Not that I don't like my 8..... I love it, but man if I was in OZ I'd be driving a Holden Monaro. Those things are freakin sweet! I went to one of the Lion's Den shops when I was down there last time and stocked up on Holden stuff for my garage. Can't wait for the GTO's to hit the street here. I might have to get rid of the bug to make room.

Readily avaialble from Trussville. Got mine in August. They ship fairly quickly vi UPS. Check out their link in the Vendor forum. If you have an address to ship to, even a hotel, should be no problem. The box is about the size of a large briefcase.
