Has anyone else got a rattle in the instrument cluster? Mine has developed a rattle that seems to start at about 60km/h. Pushing down on the top of the cluster makes it go away for a while.

Looks like I'll have to get this looked at before 10k service. At the current rate I'm about 6 months away from this. I'll be doing an oil change at 5k myself (currently at 4k)... hopefully the mazda oil will turn up by then.

Cheers,

Is it a jingling rattle or a vibrating rattle - I ask because it's getting near christmas...

Seriously, does it sound like something has come loose? I've noticed a couple of vibrations coming from the cluster area but as it's only been a couple of times I've pretty much ignored it for now.

Mine has had a similar noise from the PHS of the cluster. it sounds like a squeaky rattle. If I press down quite hard on the vent on top of the dash (the triangular vent above the round vent that faces the driver) the noise disappears.

Its been steady since about 1000km and now at 7000km I'm almost used to it but still annoyed.

My fear is that asking the dealer wo fix it will involve some apprentice dismantling my dashboard and whilst it may cure the current noise, it may create others.

My current cure involves having the beeper and the rotor drown it out !!!

I had a rattle in the steering column.

They fixed it at the 10K service, no problem since then.

Kev - it doesn't sound like something is loose... just like something plastic is rubbing.

msydd,
Do you know what they did to fix that? I've began noticing a similar noise, almost like something vibrating in the steering wheel itself.

Mine's squeaking and creaking like the clappers now. The instrument cluster actually seems a bit loose.

I'll keep pushing it till it's permanent, then mazda service can fix it.
