Well, it appears or boy is in hot water again, in a report in todays's "The Australian" (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,,24617163-13232,00.html). Clarkson blurred the line between "some" and "all". While all truck drivers may not be murderers, at least some are bullying psychopaths with the brains of hamsters. Take my experience yesterday returning from the Gold Cioast on the M1. I'm in the middle lane, reading 112km/h on the speedo, ie., 110km/h on the road. Large truck looms in rear vision, closing to within a metre of my rear in what was a fairly dense traffic situation. No way he could have reacted to any emergency. My wife was awoken from her post-lunch torpor when I dropped to 3rd and leapt into the outside lane to let the bully behind do the same thing to the next car in line.

I have just come back from 3 weeks in Europe.
It is time we had the same laws for trucks that they have in mainland Europe, i.e. trucks are confined to the right (would be left here) lane excepting in special overtaking zones.
The last 10km into Venice was a great pleasure watching the trucks lined up nose to tail in the right lane as the cars passed easily and dispersed at the end of the autostrada.
After about 1000km on autobahns (unfortunately in a hired 2 litre diesel) I am convinced that the only real difference between our freeways and the Autobahns is the law.
ALL of our major freeways could easily support the 130km/h speed limits standard throughout Europe and some like the M1 in Qld are as good as many of the speed unlimited sections of autobahn.
