I just picked up my yellow RX-8 today and I'm wondering if anybody has tinted their RX-8 in WA and if there are any recommended people to goto to get this done - no bubbles, no edges?

Also, how much % tint is a good range?

I have had mine tinted I believe you can get up to 27% darkness in tint not sure though, I had mine done at -another shade- in the tri-cities they did a good job I recomend you get the reflective tinting it has the best uv protection and keeps the inside cool during the summer so you dont have to run the ac as much

I don't want to mention the shop, but I had my done at 15% tint - non reflective - back in September and have had no problems. There was a concern about the curvature of the rear window but it turned out great. Looks 10 times better with it - especially with my black paint job.

I must say, if you're not willing to mention the shop that did the work, telling us about the quality is rather pointless. If they did a good job, give 'em some word of mouth advertising, they earned it.

Mr. Tint & Sun is Bellevue is awesome. I've had many cars done there. As for tint %'s, I like going w/ 20% in the back window and 35% (read legal) on the side windows. My RX is Titanium w/ black interior, so the film looks darker than it actually is.

Just FYI, I got pulled over for speeding in downtown seattle a couple years ago, and the cop told me it was illegal to have the front drivers side window tinted. He was going to write me a ticket for it.

Also, the reflective tinting is illegal in WA as well. If you haven't been pulled over yet you are lucky. Too dark of a tint is also illegal, but I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for that.

If you ask why, think of it this way. The police can't see what you are doing if you have reflective tint. They can't tell if you have a gun, etc.

I believe it was around $250.00. If you pay cash it's a little less. I noticed you're in Seattle? If so, you can check out a Black RX8 at University Mazda w/ 35% tint all around. Chris Wayne the GM drives it and normally has it parked right in front.

I answered all DViOuS's questions with the exception of shop's name. And - if you read my reply correctly - didn't mention anything about the "quality" of the work that was done on my car.

Besides, if you knew anything about window tinting and Washington State Law regarding legal tint limits on car windows, you would understand why I omitted the shops name in my reply.

Damn, that looks like a quality statement to me. I guess being the 24 yr old CTO for the worlds 5th largest research ECG firm might mean I can't comprehend quality though. BTW, opinions make up at least 95% of the post on every forum I've ever visited, so I have no intention or desire to keep mine to myself.

As far as legal tinting in washington, you are the one driving the car with tint, not the shop. If anyone attempts to come after them, they'll simply claim that you told them it was a show car.

BTW, you promissed pics. If I wasn't satisfied with the quality of work on my car I wouldn't post pics, so the assumption (yes I know assume = ass u me) is that you were quite pleased with the quality. Of course, if you are compensating for other personal issues by being a beligerent ass I i totally understand. I have lots of people working for me that do the exact same thing.

Remember the mirror tinting reduces the effectiveness of radar and laser detectors...
