Dongwhi 12-04-2003, 10:36 PM I saw a few running around but haven't seen anyone in the forum that lives in Pittsburgh. just curious... mcballz13 12-18-2003, 10:25 PM Moderator edit. h0rde 12-23-2003, 08:57 PM i go to school at the university of pittsburgh so my 8 can be seen around Oakland at times. pghRX8 01-10-2004, 02:52 AM hello hello......you may see me all over town if you get lucky RPRLA 01-20-2004, 11:35 PM you might see me mostly on the east side of town, Monroeville, Level Green, Murrysville My 8: 6MT Nordic Green, Black Leather GT, Appearance Package, NAV, Spoiler, 6CD Dongwhi 01-26-2004, 09:35 AM I go to CMU so my 8 can be seen around oakland at times and also near downtown because I live there. I think I saw hOrde's 8 going towards schenley park and I think I saw pghRX8's 8 at shadyside. Mine is a black w/ 6sp, gt package, appearance, and nav. Maybe we could come together sometime? pghRX8 01-27-2004, 09:45 PM Might not have been me over in Shadyside. i dont make it down there too often. I've only seen one other 8 since i got mine. It was a red one, on 376 a few months ago...loaded down with people. Looked like it had all the goodies. Mine is just a base model, i have clear corners, and got the windows tinted, but thats all so far. I was able to get S-plan pricing, sick deal out at Moon Twp mazda. Anybody else get theres out in moon?? Let me know if you guys are interested in meeting up sometime....after this damn ice storm gets out of the way of course. -D RPRLA 01-28-2004, 05:13 PM I got mine at Hamilton Mazda. I began at Moon but Hamilton beat them by a wide margin..... pghRX8 01-28-2004, 07:05 PM I started calling dealerships way back in July. Nobody returned any of my calls except for moon. I decided to just stick with'em. S-Plan leaves little to negotiate anyway. Any of you guys have yours out this week?? h0rde 01-28-2004, 08:15 PM Originally posted by pghRX8 Might not have been me over in Shadyside. i dont make it down there too often. RPRLA 01-28-2004, 10:07 PM After everything I have read on this forum, my 8 stays in when it snows, however , I do drive it on just cold pavement , I have not experienced (so far, knock on wood) any problems with just plain cold weather that some say they have had with oem tires.........how about you guys??? pghRX8 01-29-2004, 06:19 PM I left mine in on monday, didnt want to chance it with the freezing rain. Everything that you have read on the board with regard to driving in the snow is absolutely true. If you are running the Potenza's don't even try it. I bought some Dunlop WinterSport M2 tires back in december, they are amazing. I didnt think it was going to be as big of a difference, but it really was. The 8 drives just a s good as a front wheel drive car with the proper tires. Hey H0rde, you are a student at Pitt?? How bout tryin to score a recent alumni, and fellow 8 owner some hoops tickets??? -D h0rde 01-29-2004, 07:31 PM Originally posted by pghRX8 I left mine in on monday, didnt want to chance it with the freezing rain. Oh and I have to tell you that you're an alumnus, not an alumni (i'm a classics major, latin is my thing!) h0rde 01-29-2004, 07:33 PM as for the weather i do not drive the car when it's this gross out, since i don't know where I can find a nearby carwash. Since I'm just here for school I really don't drive much, I bring the car basically so I can go home whenever necessary. pghRX8 01-29-2004, 08:09 PM Well i was an Info Sci major...so i don't go no need for any of them grammar or classics..... Mine is a mess right now...i had to drive for half the day today to get out to Indiana PA for a client site...i cant even look at it right now....salt...dirt....its so sad. Spring can't get here soon enough. It probably isnt any easier for you to get hoops tickets, i just thought i'd ask, theres always a chance that you, or a friend works in the ticket office. if you do hear anything though....let me know RPRLA 01-29-2004, 09:24 PM where did you get your Dunlops? did you get new wheels??? needforspeed 01-29-2004, 09:29 PM I live in East of Pgh. It's good to hear someone from Pgh enjoying this vehicle although my does not come out to play until the weather clears. I do think we should flash our headlights when we cross paths. Velocity RED, 6-speed GT package and spoiler. pghRX8 01-29-2004, 09:40 PM I used to have a Jeep Wrangler....got the classy Jeep wave all the time, its a bit more subtle than the flashin the beams in traffic. i'll give a nod if i see any of you out there. I got the dunlops from Tirerack.com. They are 225/40R18's. Sidewall is a bit smaller, but they do they have the same load rating as the stock Bridgestones so i just went with it. I have em on the stock rims right now, i'm thinking about getting a new set of rims for the summer tires, its too much of a hassle to pay to get the tires swapped off the stock rims. I was looking at some 5Zigen wheels. Either MK-6, or Super Six in Hyperblack. Check em out on www.tires.com....let me know your thoughs, and what you think about hyperblack rims on a Titanium 8 -D h0rde 01-29-2004, 10:09 PM Originally posted by pghRX8 I used to have a Jeep Wrangler....got the classy Jeep wave all the time, its a bit more subtle than the flashin the beams in traffic. i'll give a nod if i see any of you out there. I've seen a titanium 8 around a few times but not recently, on pitt's campus. pghRX8 01-29-2004, 10:13 PM nope, i've just got the cloth interiror...even the cloth is nice in this car, best interior i've ever owned. I've had it down in oakland a few times though, my g/f is a student -D h0rde 01-30-2004, 03:37 PM Originally posted by pghRX8 nope, i've just got the cloth interiror...even the cloth is nice in this car, best interior i've ever owned. JIM WV 02-04-2004, 09:46 PM Greetings from Wheeling, West-by-God. Not living in the 'burgh now, but grew up in the east suburbs. Just picked up our 8 last week, sunlight silver, 6MT and haven't seen another 8 on the road yet. Waited until a dry day to pick up the car, but it was tough just getting it into my garage (very slightly inclined kinda icy driveway). h0rde 02-05-2004, 02:12 AM getting your 8 in the middle of winter, that sure sucks. I picked mine up in the beginning of september but had to come right to school, where i don't realy drive it. so this summer will be the first time (almost 8 months after i bought it) i'll actually be able to enjoy the thing. MadMacz 02-18-2004, 05:51 PM I just got my RX-8 in december. Red, w/red and black interior, appearance pkg. Early Xmas present. Actually, I got it to replace my 91 miata after I hit a deer. I usually commute between pgh north hills and cranberry, but I do go downtown twice a week for school. Haven't seen too many RX-8s on the road, but with the weather the way it's been, I'm not too surprised. MichRX7 02-20-2004, 12:45 PM Hey Pittsburgh RX8 owners. I just spoke to the West-Penn Rotary Club at their winter banquet about two weeks ago about attending this year's Rotary Revolution. They have a great club, are very organized and do a lot of exciting events throughout the year. You can check out their website (and of course see the Revolution event on their calendar for April 30th - May 2nd) at: http://westpenn.rx-7.org Hope to see all of you Pittsburgh RX8 owners caravan out together! zerobanger 02-20-2004, 01:02 PM I grew up in pittsburgh. went to Norwin, lived in shadyside, Oakland and Plum. Damn this brings back memories, I left there in 1995. loco4rx8 02-20-2004, 01:05 PM Hey Pitt folks! I come up for a Steeler game every season. Love the 'burgh! Maybe I'll see one of you on the road this fall. pghRX8 02-27-2004, 11:11 PM 55 degrees and sunny tomorrow...65 and sunny on Sunday?!? God Bless MARCH!!! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for you guys, and you can bet i will have my 8 out all weekend long! -D h0rde 02-28-2004, 11:31 PM saw a titanium 8 today, right outside my apartment window in oakland. automatic, anybody's here? MadMacz 03-03-2004, 06:07 PM I just joined the West Penn Rotary club at their last meeting. Nice bunch of folks. Only 2 of us have 8s, but they run the gamut on rotary power. I did sign up for the Rotary Revolution that Mich was talking about. It's looking to be a fun event. I've had my 8 out every day for the past few weeks. We finally are getting some decent weather! Gotta keep washing her to keep up the shine. . .:D jfxp 03-03-2004, 08:04 PM Originally posted by h0rde i go to school at the university of pittsburgh so my 8 can be seen around Oakland at times. Mine is the black one that has nothing except leaking engine oil. pghRX8 03-06-2004, 07:21 PM I've seen some more around too. I have titanium but i wasnt tailing a black 8 recently. I saw a red one on 279 heading into town last week. Mine will be off the streets for a while though...went up on a curb and took out a little tree last night. Not good at all. Still waiting for the insurance company to call me back... The bumper is cracked, hood dented, and roof dented....a moment of silence would be greatly appreciated. i spent a good part of the day just sitting in the garage looking at it, what a day -D moahiek 03-09-2004, 03:04 AM -moment of silence - that's harsh man, but look on the bright side...u have a legit excuse to buy a ms kit! or veilside for me pghRX8 03-09-2004, 07:19 PM Still waiting on the estimate...I thought about the MS kit...its the only one that i like, but it's way too pricy... i've been driving a ford escort all week...its a nightmare -D h0rde 03-09-2004, 07:26 PM Originally posted by jfxp I've seen an 8 parked on thackery at PITT, infact i've parked next to it on a few occasions. Mazda dealers had some trouble getting their hands on a new roof panel, they told my auto body guy that there was only one replacement roof skin in the entire United States!! Hopefully he was able to get his hands on it! MichRX7 03-11-2004, 10:03 AM pghRX8: Well, I used to read this thread a lot to try and get you Pitt owners interested in hooking up with the RX7 owners for a caravan out to this year's Rotary Revolution. Except now it is gut-wrenching to think of you sitting in your garage staring at the carnage. Sorry to hear about your mishap, please get the vehicle fixed asap. You've got me feeling so bad send me a PM and I'll give you a deal to get your newly fixed up 8 down to the event. We've already got 7 Pennsylvania rotary vehicles registered, and if you meet the Columbus caravan you'll ride in with what we expect to be 40 - 50 RX vehicles come event time. Also, make sure you check out the west-penn rotary club right in Pittsburgh, many of those pennsylvania owners attending are from the club. Including Guy Huettel and his 2004 Red RX-8! :D Here are links for the Rotary Revolution: http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=67 AND http://revolutionmktg.net/Revolution Here is the link for the West-Penn Rotary Club: http://westpenn.rx-7.org h0rde 03-15-2004, 02:23 AM Originally posted by jfxp Yup! thats me u probably saw. I've been an RX-8 driver since late January: '04 Nordic Green GT w/o spoiler, usually around downtown Pgh, Squirrel Hill, or Oakland. Won't be going to any shows, unless there's an UNmodified madness... Seriously, though, a friend of mine who owns a couple of 7s was talking about the rotary section at the Vintage Grand Prix. So far, I've seen a Ti Grey parked at CMU, a Yellow driving up Forbes, and just today at lunch, a Red downtown. A couple of weeks ago I traded a "Jeep wave" with someone headed down Rt 28. Oh, and I saw a silver this past weekend, but that was in Palm Springs, CA. The green seems all-but-invisible to anyone who doesn't know about the 8, or isn't otherwise into cars. It gets plenty of attention from those in the know, though.:D RenesisRacer 03-15-2005, 08:02 PM Another Pittsburgher here! Mine's the VRed 8 with a factory spoiler driving aroudn Sq. Hill on the weekends. Unfortunatly I'm at school in Wheeling during the week :( . If there are any 8-meets let me know and I'd love to join in! gambit27 06-01-2005, 06:42 PM New Ti Grey base model in robinson, let me know of any meetups, Just so u know i hate Moon Mazda HK.RX888 06-02-2005, 01:32 AM has anyone seen a reaally loud black 8? Helmano 06-03-2005, 10:59 PM mines kinda loud lol where did you see this 8 at? RPRLA 06-07-2005, 11:11 PM I have had my 8 since November 2003 and today (june 7) was the first time I actually saw two 8's on the road in the same day. Is it my imagination or are we still a select few??? wintergrn 06-07-2005, 11:59 PM The most I've seen in one day is 3, but two of them were parked behind the same building at CMU. Just confirms my opinion that the 8 has geek appeal. :) Most days, it's 0 or 1. I see almost as many RX-7s out there, especially now that the weather has warmed up. Helmano 06-10-2005, 07:22 PM ya you dont see too many 8s around here gambit27 06-22-2005, 09:29 PM Anyone interested in having a meet up, Some where in Pittsburgh on the 9th of July? I'm planning on talking to the guys at Total Image on Rt 60 in Robinson and seeing if they could provide any discount if we all show up their. They do have limited parking space but i believe that there is parking in the back. Let me know who's interested. Thanks, Joe wintergrn 06-22-2005, 11:41 PM Yeah, that would be good. Only problem for me is that I'm booked up for pretty much all the weekends this summer, unfortunately. However, I will be in town, so there's always the possibility I could fit in a quick trip to a meet. Post or PM me a time/date and I'll show up if I can. Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of shop is Total Image? I'm assuming they do detailing, tint, etc.? gambit27 06-23-2005, 12:03 AM Not 100% sure what they all do. but i think its mainly exterior performance, sound systems ect... not real sure what they do performance wise... Helmano 06-23-2005, 07:23 PM sounds good to me ill go RenesisRacer 07-20-2005, 08:09 PM Wow the Pittsburgh thread has gotten pushed to the 2nd page... I just wanted to say hey to the guy in the red 8 on Baum if you're on here, I was in the other red one next to the bus... Zoom RX8 Zoom 11-21-2005, 08:45 PM Im in the Penn-Township area (Irwin, Levelgreen, Greensburg, Monroeville). I have a sunlight silver with 19" Racing Hart CR rims (gunmetal w/ chrome lip), tinted windows, painted calipers (red). I plan to get a mazdaspeed kit for next summer, but shes going away for the winter soon. I go to Penn State Mckeesport. I see a few 8's in Irwin every once in awhile. I got mine at Hamilton. X-E-0-3 01-10-2006, 12:17 PM Anyone in the vacinity of Washington up I79 North to Moon Township? NVMYGT 01-10-2006, 11:02 PM I live in the South Hills but take my car to the dealer in Moon. X-E-0-3 01-11-2006, 07:27 AM Dealer in Moon a safe / best place to have all recalls and engine work done? I do not trust mechanics from all of the crap I have been through. gambit27 01-15-2006, 12:18 PM Moon Twp is some what suspect. I've taken my car there before and watched them stall it 3 times while moving it into the garage. I also believe that someone had some damage done to there car while being serviced there. Helmano 01-16-2006, 03:06 PM i sadly just sold my rx-8 but i had all of my service done at hamilton mazda in irwin on rt 30. i highly recomend them. RenesisRacer 02-13-2006, 12:52 PM So I guess we've all pooed out on trying to get a meet together... If you haven't already be sure to check out the auto show downtown at the convention center. I have my Formula Mazda Pro racecar in Mazda's display and I'll be there all week to answer questions and talk cars/racing with whoever passes by.
