and I think I saw pghRX8's 8 at shadyside.

Looked like it had all the goodies. Mine is just a base model, i have clear corners, and got the windows tinted, but thats all so far. I was able to get S-plan pricing, sick deal out at Moon Twp mazda. Anybody else get theres out in moon?? Let me know if you guys are interested in meeting up sometime....after this damn ice storm gets out of the way of course.

I got mine at Hamilton Mazda. I began at Moon but Hamilton beat them by a wide margin.....

I started calling dealerships way back in July. Nobody returned any of my calls except for moon. I decided to just stick with'em. S-Plan leaves little to negotiate anyway. Any of you guys have yours out this week??

Might have been me, i took my roomates to monroeville one afternoon so there would have been 4 of us in it.

After everything I have read on this forum, my 8 stays in when it snows, however , I do drive it on just cold pavement , I have not experienced (so far, knock on wood) any problems with just plain cold weather that some say they have had with oem tires.........how about you guys???

I left mine in on monday, didnt want to chance it with the freezing rain. Everything that you have read on the board with regard to driving in the snow is absolutely true. If you are running the Potenza's don't even try it. I bought some Dunlop WinterSport M2 tires back in december, they are amazing. I didnt think it was going to be as big of a difference, but it really was. The 8 drives just a s good as a front wheel drive car with the proper tires.

haha i could help you out if possible, i'm not exactly sure how much easier it is for me to get them than it is you, but i'll find out. Oh and I have to tell you that you're an alumnus, not an alumni (i'm a classics major, latin is my thing!)

as for the weather i do not drive the car when it's this gross out, since i don't know where I can find a nearby carwash. Since I'm just here for school I really don't drive much, I bring the car basically so I can go home whenever necessary.

Well i was an Info Sci major...so i don't go no need for any of them grammar or classics.....

Mine is a mess right now...i had to drive for half the day today to get out to Indiana PA for a client site...i cant even look at it right now....salt...dirt....its so sad. Spring can't get here soon enough.

I live in East of Pgh. It's good to hear someone from Pgh enjoying this vehicle although my does not come out to play until the weather clears. I do think we should flash our headlights when we cross paths.

I used to have a Jeep Wrangler....got the classy Jeep wave all the time, its a bit more subtle than the flashin the beams in traffic. i'll give a nod if i see any of you out there.

I got the dunlops from Tirerack.com. They are 225/40R18's. Sidewall is a bit smaller, but they do they have the same load rating as the stock Bridgestones so i just went with it.

I have em on the stock rims right now, i'm thinking about getting a new set of rims for the summer tires, its too much of a hassle to pay to get the tires swapped off the stock rims. I was looking at some 5Zigen wheels. Either MK-6, or Super Six in Hyperblack. Check em out on www.tires.com....let me know your thoughs, and what you think about hyperblack rims on a Titanium 8

nope, i've just got the cloth interiror...even the cloth is nice in this car, best interior i've ever owned. I've had it down in oakland a few times though, my g/f is a student

Greetings from Wheeling, West-by-God. Not living in the 'burgh now, but grew up in the east suburbs. Just picked up our 8 last week, sunlight silver, 6MT and haven't seen another 8 on the road yet. Waited until a dry day to pick up the car, but it was tough just getting it into my garage (very slightly inclined kinda icy driveway).

getting your 8 in the middle of winter, that sure sucks. I picked mine up in the beginning of september but had to come right to school, where i don't realy drive it. so this summer will be the first time (almost 8 months after i bought it) i'll actually be able to enjoy the thing.

I just got my RX-8 in december. Red, w/red and black interior, appearance pkg. Early Xmas present. Actually, I got it to replace my 91 miata after I hit a deer. I usually commute between pgh north hills and cranberry, but I do go downtown twice a week for school. Haven't seen too many RX-8s on the road, but with the weather the way it's been, I'm not too surprised.

saw a titanium 8 today, right outside my apartment window in oakland. automatic, anybody's here?

I just joined the West Penn Rotary club at their last meeting. Nice bunch of folks. Only 2 of us have 8s, but they run the gamut on rotary power. I did sign up for the Rotary Revolution that Mich was talking about. It's looking to be a fun event.

I've had my 8 out every day for the past few weeks. We finally are getting some decent weather! Gotta keep washing her to keep up the shine. . .:D

I've seen some more around too. I have titanium but i wasnt tailing a black 8 recently. I saw a red one on 279 heading into town last week.

Mine will be off the streets for a while though...went up on a curb and took out a little tree last night. Not good at all. Still waiting for the insurance company to call me back...

Yup! thats me u probably saw. VR (Vintage Red). Next time I go to pitt for a visit we should get together and chat rotary :)

Got the estimate today 3868.96...guess thats what insurance is for. Mazda dealers had some trouble getting their hands on a new roof panel, they told my auto body guy that there was only one replacement roof skin in the entire United States!! Hopefully he was able to get his hands on it!

Sorry to hear about your mishap, please get the vehicle fixed asap. You've got me feeling so bad send me a PM and I'll give you a deal to get your newly fixed up 8 down to the event. We've already got 7 Pennsylvania rotary vehicles registered, and if you meet the Columbus caravan you'll ride in with what we expect to be 40 - 50 RX vehicles come event time.

Also, make sure you check out the west-penn rotary club right in Pittsburgh, many of those pennsylvania owners attending are from the club. Including Guy Huettel and his 2004 Red RX-8! :D

wow, if that was you that's a nice car you have. It looked completely stock (from the outside anyway) except I seem to recall a different exhaust maybe. My roommate and I walked past it at a traffic light turning onto Forbes ave. and he asked me what it was (excuse him, his parents own a pontiac grand prix and he thinks it's something).

i live in allegheny county, in baldwin. i am deff gona try to organize some sort of meet but we have to find some more people in the pittsburgh area.

Add another 8 to the pittsburgh tally, Silver, red and black interior, mazda speed body kit front sides and rear. mostly drive in the New Ken Lower burrell suburbs and often to monroville/murryville /oakmont/ and foxchapel area's.

This seems to be the main Pgh thread (originally saw this one: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=55041), so I'll reintroduce myself here...

I've been an RX-8 driver since late January: '04 Nordic Green GT w/o spoiler, usually around downtown Pgh, Squirrel Hill, or Oakland. Won't be going to any shows, unless there's an UNmodified madness... Seriously, though, a friend of mine who owns a couple of 7s was talking about the rotary section at the Vintage Grand Prix.

So far, I've seen a Ti Grey parked at CMU, a Yellow driving up Forbes, and just today at lunch, a Red downtown. A couple of weeks ago I traded a "Jeep wave" with someone headed down Rt 28. Oh, and I saw a silver this past weekend, but that was in Palm Springs, CA.

The green seems all-but-invisible to anyone who doesn't know about the 8, or isn't otherwise into cars. It gets plenty of attention from those in the know, though.:D

Another Pittsburgher here! Mine's the VRed 8 with a factory spoiler driving aroudn Sq. Hill on the weekends. Unfortunatly I'm at school in Wheeling during the week :( . If there are any 8-meets let me know and I'd love to join in!

I have had my 8 since November 2003 and today (june 7) was the first time I actually saw two 8's on the road in the same day. Is it my imagination or are we still a select few???

The most I've seen in one day is 3, but two of them were parked behind the same building at CMU. Just confirms my opinion that the 8 has geek appeal. :)

Most days, it's 0 or 1. I see almost as many RX-7s out there, especially now that the weather has warmed up.

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of shop is Total Image? I'm assuming they do detailing, tint, etc.?

Not 100% sure what they all do. but i think its mainly exterior performance, sound systems ect... not real sure what they do performance wise...

Im in the Penn-Township area (Irwin, Levelgreen, Greensburg, Monroeville). I have a sunlight silver with 19" Racing Hart CR rims (gunmetal w/ chrome lip), tinted windows, painted calipers (red). I plan to get a mazdaspeed kit for next summer, but shes going away for the winter soon. I go to Penn State Mckeesport. I see a few 8's in Irwin every once in awhile. I got mine at Hamilton.

Dealer in Moon a safe / best place to have all recalls and engine work done? I do not trust mechanics from all of the crap I have been through.

Moon Twp is some what suspect. I've taken my car there before and watched them stall it 3 times while moving it into the garage. I also believe that someone had some damage done to there car while being serviced there.

i sadly just sold my rx-8 but i had all of my service done at hamilton mazda in irwin on rt 30. i highly recomend them.

So I guess we've all pooed out on trying to get a meet together...

If you haven't already be sure to check out the auto show downtown at the convention center. I have my Formula Mazda Pro racecar in Mazda's display and I'll be there all week to answer questions and talk cars/racing with whoever passes by. They also have a MazdaSpeed 6 and some other new models on display. :ylsuper:

Any one ever try franklin road from 228 to evans city? the best road i know of.

I have an old '04 Automatic starter that I can give give to someone for free (better than throwing it away). It was still working when I replaced it for newer/faster spinning starter. IM me if you want it.

I didn't have anything to do today so I went out to try franklin road. It was really fun! Curvy with lots of up and downs. Thanks for recommending! Only thing though its kinda crowded.. Anyone know any other good roads around?
