I doubt that it has happened because of the work involved to get it to work right. It would probably be easier to retrofit one of those joystick things from an IBM laptop to be under the joystick.

Here is what I am talking about:

someone on here went with this in place of the nav stick, and it looked great actually I remember it looking better than the stock setup. Search through the carputer threads and you might run across it.

^ ay, I was going to do that but scrapped the plans. I had the touchpad and everything.

On a screen so small in a carpc setup you should be running a media frontend designed for this purpose. Therefore you shouldn't need to have a mouse/keyboard at all. I've had my carpc running for a couple of months now and not ONCE have I had the need to use a keyboard/mouse while in the car. All input was via the touchscreen lcd.

I came across this long before I started on my car computer, looks like it was attempted before. Well, sorta, because I don't think they ever got past the decoding stage:

Also, Kimota was the one who put the touchpad in that spot, it looks really good:

I tried yesterday to do what he did with the USB hub, but cutting that plastic is harder than it sounds, or maybe I'm just not very fabricationally inclined yet, lol. I've got a small gap underneath the hub now because it was too hard to get it the exact size and shape to fit flush, so I'm going to have the hub faceplate on top of the radio plastic. Need to find a way to fill that tiny gap with something that looks or can be painted piano black.. :(

ye i have found a better touchpad actually, and the reason for using one is because i dont want to spend extra money replacing the screen to a touchscreen, so i would need a touchpad at the very least.

this is the best one i could find and its also on ebay for around 30 bucks
