My rx-8 is two weeks old and this morning, the first morning noteably below freezing (NJ) I got in my car and I could not switch modes between the defroster, foot, front blowers. The heater still worked, it seemed to be stuck on where i had it last, the defroster mode. Another thing was that the temp and visual to let you know what settings you are on was blank. Did it freeze up? Has anyone had a similar occurance? I thought I blew a fuse at first but when I got back into my car after working today everything was working fine. Any thoughts out there?

 

Most new cars default to the defrost mode if there is a vacum leak in the system. It's a safety precaution.
