Hi,
I have replaced 4 coils, spark plugs, and plug wires hoping to improve gas mileage.
Do you gurus have any other ideas for any replacements to improve car (04 rx 8 auto) performance?
Thank you for your help and w/o you guys help I would have never been able to replace electrical system by myself.

Not sure if it helps any, but you could always do the DIY Intake mod...:)

There is the DIY MM AP install that would help. You could pair that with a midpipe or high flow cat.

MM AP = mazdamaniac accessport.
Just search high flow cat and midpipe. They are exhaust accessories.
Midpipe can also equal flames!:yesnod:

Flames are cool!!!
Lightweight pulleys can improve fuel economy..
What are you getting now?
My dad has a water gas fuel injection system in his car. It turns the water into gas form and injects it into the intake manifold and gets him amazing gas mileage around 62 MPG in a 04 accord...
I'm not sure about doing this to a rotary.. I'd love all your thoughts.
The water gas burns up all the fuel giving a full combustion and not leaving any excess gas left for the cat to suck up. In theory it will increase performance but at the same time the EGT temps would be so high that it could cause severe damage.
Thoughts??

Thanks sax when I wrote "thoughts??" I was referring to the potential damage that could be done to the engine due to the rise in EGT.
Here's some reading for you....

Thanks for making me look that up.
At this point I'm not sure on the whole thing because it takes electricity to run the generator that produces the gas. Which could put more stress on the engine resulting in the same fuel economy. Unless you ran it off a separate battery maybe 2 of them that got charged each night.
time to look into plasma injection. I'm on the alternative energy bandwagon gas will be gone in the next 5 years and I still want to be going fast!! I freaking hate electric vehicles less the tesla of course...
