View Full Version : got the $500 card
madhaus 12-02-2003, 02:01 AM ... tonight I was looking where the mail falls behind the dryer ... found one non-descript envelope. I nearly threw it out without opening it because it looked like junk mail.
but inside was the $500 Mazda rebate!!! woo-hoo! the letter was postmarked November 29th.
has anyone else received their rebate debit card?
has anyone thrown it out accidentally !??!??
JaChTsai 12-02-2003, 02:05 AM Hear hear
sferrett 12-02-2003, 02:52 AM I almost tossed mine out - it showed up in the mail today. The envelope is very junk-mail/credit-card-offer looking.
I wonder if those folks saying they didn't get them yet may have inadvertently thrown the envelope out....
Aratinga 12-02-2003, 10:40 AM Yesterday morning (Monday 12/1) I called Mazda to ask where my debit card was... they told me to expect delivery between December 9th and 15th.
Then I get home and check my mail. A-hah! An envelope from Mazda! But it was just coupons for service from the local dealer. :(
But in this other, junk-mail-looking envelope with "Here is the information you requested" printed on the front, was my Amex "Incentive" debit card! The word "MAZDA" didn't appear anywhere on the envelope, but it's printed on the card. I wouldn't be surprised if lots of people inadvertently tossed it without even opening it.
Still no free service card, though. But at least now I can do some serious Christmas shopping! ;)
ZoominRex 12-02-2003, 10:49 AM I got mine yesterday as well! FINALLY!!! time for some x-mas shopping
MikeDemo 12-02-2003, 10:52 AM I still ain't got mine yet, i'm gettin pissed!!!
ELX13 12-02-2003, 10:57 AM haven't gotten mine either...and it doesn't help that i moved to san diego while waiting. i'll probably NEVER get it now!
Squidward 12-02-2003, 12:17 PM When people read "Requested Information Enclosed" they immediately think it's junkmail...
I bet you they intentionally mailed it in that envelope to trick people into tossing it out... I'm sure they have saved some money doing so.
cruzdreamer 12-02-2003, 03:02 PM Called mazda...mine was sent Nov. 25th.....so I am thinking it should be here any day now!! Told the hubby to look at every piece of mail!! Thanks for the photo of the envelope!!!
Genom 12-02-2003, 04:36 PM I just received my card today. I sent in my letter in the last week of the month.

I don't think they saved a dollar by doing so. The cards are pre-loaded with the amounts.
pp13bnos 12-02-2003, 06:47 PM I know this has been talked about a million and one times, but when was the cutoff date for Mazda to send a card out? Thanks, CJ
8_wannabe 12-02-2003, 09:25 PM pp13, depends when you call but many of us were told the card would be sent between 9-16 Dec. Then we got the card this week.
Woohoo, got mine today. Like everyone says, it totally looks like junk mail and I just opened it cuz I was bored. Make sure you look at the photo above; light blue envelope with no indication where/who its from; just says "The info you requested." I'm thinking, yeah like how fraudulent and I open it out of curiousity and bingo! This'll cover my gas bills for, oh, I don't know... a couple months? Merry christmas one and all.
khoney 12-02-2003, 09:27 PM Got mine yesterday - mailed reply from San Antonio on Sept. 26th.

Yo ara, you already have free service, you don't need to wait for the card. You are in the mazda computer at every dealership, so go ahead and get service, don't worry bout the card. And go on the more frequent sked (every 5K miles) since it's free.
sferrett 12-02-2003, 09:34 PM I sent mine in a couple of days after the cutoff date (I'm an award-winning procrastinator) and mine showed up on Monday.
As for the fraudulent part - that would be on Amex's conscience, since (presumably) Mazda payed them the 500 "points" and if we throw the card in the bin cause we thought it was junk mail then Amex gets to keep the money after the expiry date...
pp13bnos 12-02-2003, 10:39 PM What I meant to ask was, I purchased my car around the first week in Nov. When was the cutoff date for getting the card or service plan? Sorry for the confusion. CJ

Actually, the cards are not pre-loaded. They are a points based incentive card. Mazda will pay AMEX for any points used on the cards until May of 2004; when the cards expire.
In other words, Mazda will pay nothing if a card is not used. Well, I shouldn't say nothing, there is probably some fee they are paying to AMEX for the use of the card.
MikeDemo 12-03-2003, 11:16 AM finally got mine yesturday, very happy now!!! time to go spend it...

Thanks... I actually got free oil changes every 3000 miles as long as I own the car as part of my original purchase deal with Claremont Mazda, so I've been getting them on that schedule at no cost to me (other than paying full MSRP for the car -- D'OH!) But having the other major services for free is icing on the cake.
Oh, and the debit card (to keep this on-topic)... going, going, almost GONE. I just used it to buy my B/F a new edit: he reads this forum too! ;) for Christmas. No problems with the retailer taking it, either... but I have keep track of the balance left on it or it will be declined if I try to charge more than that.
Happy shopping, all!
Jeri
rxeightr 12-03-2003, 10:56 PM Mine showed up on Monday, 12/1
